So Ive had Emunand for over a year now, its been working great. I am not interested in using Sysnand and want to stay with booting into emunand. Now my question is... should I consider switching to something else like RedNand?

Space is not a concern, are there upsides other than saving space to switching? Or is Emunand still good to use?

I have a9lh and I use it with Luma.

RedNAND and EmuNAND are just different implementations of the same thing. Your EmuNAND is a RedNAND, if you want to see it that way.
RedNAND stands for Redirected NAND where the read/write functions of the NAND are well, redirected to a secret partition of the SD card. EmuNAND works like this as well.

The RedNAND was the homebrew implementation of Gateway's EmuNAND, and the way they access the SD card is a little different. But they achieve the same goal, emulate a NAND.

Interesting links if you want to read more about it:

Thanks for the detailed reply. So question is... is one implementation better than another? Like better optimized that would make it worth switching?

Nope, as far as i know they work the same.
Their difference is tiny for the end user that doesn't know about offsets and the sort. Don't worry about it.

The main advantage of RedNAND over EmuNAND is that RedNAND only needs to relevant bits of the NAND (943MB for O3DS/2DS, 1.21GB for N3DS) whereas an EmuNAND has to be the same size as the NAND chip in that particular 3DS (which can ~1.8GB on some N3DS and 2DS).

If you're using an O3DS, EmuNAND will at worst waste about 11MB if you have the larger NAND. It's more of a thing for N3DS/2DS that can have larger NAND chips. See: https://3ds.guide/nand-size

    well actually
a new console won't do anything right now, because the games are still in development, that's why there are few games being released

it won't make the games finish any faster

2/3rds of launch titles for the Switch 2 will just be lazy ports of Switch games anyway.
