I have some concerns with the new otpless brick that some users have been reporting, concerning the new3ds. Would it be okay if i used al9hsafeinstaller on a 2ds? I've recently got my 2ds running on menuhax and on 9.2. Prior to receiving my 2ds, i had used the optless method to install al9h on my new 3dsxl. (i have no problems so far, it's been a couple of weeks).

Any thoughts or concerns?

You can't possibly use OTP-less on any other device that is NOT a N3DS.

The needed hardware to achieve OTP-less is just not there.

Just follow www.3ds.guide from the get started page and select the 2ds.
You will need to be in 9.2
Launch decrypt9
Get back to 2.1
Install safea9lhinstaller and a9lh with it
Ans back to injecting your emunand as sysnand/injecting fbi if you did not have one.

Do not try to use n3ds otpless on anything else.

It's impossible to use the OTP less a9lh install on O3DS (2DS included), so you can't really worry about that.
To install a9lh on this console, you must use ctrtransfer / downgrade it to 2.1 to dump the OTP, then install a9lh using it. This method has nearly 0% brick rate, so it's safe as long as you follow Plailect guide's instructions.

I'm stuck on the arm11.bin loading. Doesn't seem to help when i clear with save data initialize
If it just freezes in a glitched-like screen, try to follow the guide pretending that nothing happened. If I recall, just press SELECT and wait, like, 10 seconds. Then just press any button and it should restart/turn off. Happened to me while going through the OTP route on my N3DS.

I forgot the arm11.bin lol. How would i access home brew menu to installed al9h with the installer though? Plailects guide just goes on setting up luma, but don't i need to installed a9lh first?

Also, i shouldn't manually upgrade with a cartridge right? ( i feel like if i do, i will brick)

I mean worst case scenario.. if something goes wrong, i can still return it to Nintendo on ebay..

Any help?

You won't brick if you update by cart on your 2DS (which is an O3DS), but you really shouldn't: Just follow Section 4 of the "Installing arm9loaderhax" page of the guide

When you load arm11.bin, it loads the SafeA9LHInstaller, which installs a9lh. Then you just install the Homebrew Launcher Loader cia.

Also, I'm pretty sure this thread should be on Flashcards and Custom Firmwares.

The guide doesn't mention that. I just wanted some clarification on a small issue. Solved.

The guide does tell you where you should put all the files in the -prep work- bit of each section.
Always triple check you have all the files where they belong and you'll be golden.

ofc, i'm not here to say the guide was inadequate or anything. For the most part it was very well organized and written.

It was also the guide that helped me with the otpless for my other n3ds.

I just felt that there were a little tidbits of guide that left me a little confused.

Some steps only need to be read more than once to fully understand, which is why i say a good thing to do is double check before doing the step.

Which, i agreed with you in my other post. I think it's going to vary in difficulty from person to person.(which doesn't, excuse people for not reading).

But, in a case where an individual has installed al0h this more than once, i'd assume most would not need a guide after that much practice.

It's just that my friend who had a 2ds prior and he tried update his console to 9.2.0 with super smash bros. He literally hard bricked his system, by doing so. He couldn't open any of the systems icons.

i think thats probably sufficient proof, that you can brick, if you update with a cartridge..

Maybe he did something wrong, i'm not entirely sure.

Well, the guide is ever changing, so i'd still recommend reading.
For example, OTPless used to be in the guide, but was deemed unsafe and removed. you could do it by memory and end up with a bricked console for not remembering a step.
Also, the tools like H9/D9 get oftenly updated, a9lh recieved a few updates through the year as well.
