Hi!

I am a proud a9LH user and I want my themes back. Previously I used CHMM I think, but it's not starting anymore. What is actually the best way to get themes running on a9lh with luma firmware?

Get the latest CHHM (which is perfectly working with luma on latest 11.2) if you use the eShop often, as installed themes will be deleted when eShop is launched, otherwise get the Howling Theme Tool and pack you themes into cia and install them.

Is there a way to get the custom themes but keep the default sounds (background and effects) of the original themes?

A lot of the themes look nice, but either have obnoxious background music or volume that is very loud compared to the default volume level.

Pretty sure the sounds and effects are just the .bgm files, so if you downloaded a stock theme you could rip the .bgm file and replace the .bgm file of your custom theme.

If you've never entered the Theme Shop then themes won't get deleted when you enter eShop.

Interesting, I wonder what the theme shop does.
It's the same thing as with any DLC. I assume something gets saved on the server side the first time you enter a DLC shop and when eShop compares that saved data against your installed DLC and finds that there's something that shouldn't be there, it removes it.

Hmmm, anyone have a couple spare 3DSes for science?
