So ive searched numerous threads and cant seem to find a proper answer for what i need. I feel like its probably a simple enough fix....?
so i opened tinyformat when i meant to open another app and i guess i hit the key that engaged it, now i think im in some kind of mod purgatory. tried loading on the files from my sd backup as a quick fix, but now 3ds wont load most of the games and apps or HBL upon boot.
when i hold down select upon boot, it will still load Luma3ds v6.6 config screen, but no matter what i do, it wont load all the stuff from my SD card like it used to
sorry for the noob question... i only slightly understand how to mess with 3ds mod stuff and many threads and tutorials discuss stuff that isnt totally applicable to my situation
any help?

i backed up all the contents of the SD card initially upon modding and before fooling around with it and ultimately using tinyformat.
is it sysNAND.bin? or y_EMUnand9.bin?

You must restore the nand you on which you used tinyformat.
If you have a sys/emuNAND.bin then restore it with an appropriate tool. (decrypt9 for example)

Look like menuhax "broke", did you use tinyformat on the sysnand?

i backed up all the files upon modding, but dont have a sys folder or emunand.bin file nor did i ever have one. i think? pressing select upon boot still loads luma config screen. Im not an expert on any of this but backed up all files from the sd at multiple points since modding. i would think it would be as simple as just loading the file back onto the sd card?
I can still load a bunch of apps downloaded via FreeShop but not all. no HBL and no FBI, but tinyformat is still there.

sys/ didn't mean sys folder ^_^

sd backup is a thing, but NAND backup is another, did you follow a tutorial while modding your 3ds? If so, they told you to back up your nand.
Do you use emunand or a9lh?

my buddy backed it up and still has the files hosted online. it uses a9lh
Do you or do you not have an emuNAND.bin/sysNAND.bin anywhere on your SD card or a backup online? If you do, use Hourglass9/Decrypt9 to restore it and be on with your day. Why would you mess with TinyFormat, which does what the name suggests?

Sounds like you formatted your sysnand by accident. The reason why your 3ds won't read your files backup is because you reset the NAND code to a new one.The only way to fix this is to restore a NAND backup from before.

Even a nand backup may not help. If the nand was created when first modding the 3DS then most of the tickets for the games installed will not be there.

Restoring the nand and mass injecting tickets may work but it will never be the same.

I personally would just take it as a learning experience and start over. Format the sd card and start again.

this is what im thinking happened. theres still a handful of games/apps that work and i dont mind starting over, i just dont have any of the necessary things to re-mod my 3ds. if i could get FBI/HBL back on there i could probably do the rest?

Since you're on a9lh, acces HBL with any access point compatible with your firm, and launch Decrypt9 or Hourglass9 from there.
Then restore.

For re-injecting FBI, you can find all the informations you need here -> necronomicon

You will have to reinstall the games again.... soo do this:

Launch Hourglass9 or Decrypt9WIP.
Dump Health And Safety App.
Inject FBI into Health And Safety.
Inject The new FBI INjected into Sysnand.
Profit!

They can't use Decrypt9 through the HBL unless they're on 9.2.

Download the latest release of Hourglass9. Move the .bin to your luma/payloads folder. Name it x_Hg9.bin. Make sure to have your latest NAND backup on your SD card in your files9 folder. Don't have that folder? Make it on the root of your SD card and put your latest NAND backup in that folder. Find Plailect's A9LH guide on installing arm9loaderhax and find the aes keys file (don't remember the exact name of the file, but it starts with aes). Download that, use a torrent program to get the actual .bin file, and put that .bin file in your files9 folder. Press and hold the X button when you boot your system and Hourglass9 should load. Follow the on screen text to restore your NAND backup.

Restoring the NAND will allow you to dump movable.sed even if the tickets aren't installed. With movable.sed, you can decrypt your saves.

Um, yeah you can, D9 has an A9LH payload. What do you think Hourglass9 is a stripped-down version of?

I said through the HBL (or the Homebrew Launcher if you didn't already know) if you actually took the time to read my post. I know it has an A9LH payload. You don't load an A9LH payload through the HBL unless you're on 9.2.
