the psp version is basically an upgraded version of the ps1 version . that and the fact you now have 3 more recruitable characters , Lezard , Freya , and Brahms can be recruited in seraphic gate on hard mode.


Everything! the story was amazing . it follows the Valkyrie lenneth on her journey to recruit the souls of the dead to send to Valhalla and prepare them for Ragnarok . I loved ALL of the characters , all of them had their own unique stories , journeys, paths and all of them ended with lenneth . I also loved the fact that you could play through the game either by just following the orders of the gods, getting richly rewarded . or you could travel off the beaten path and find lenneth`s true story ( good luck getting the true ending without a guide)


the combat system is simple yet complex, each character in your party of 4 is mapped to a different face button . by pressing that button , that character will attack , by chaining attacks you fill up a super meter at the bottom . when it reaches 100 . you can unleash each characters super attack , since all of the games many character has a different attack speed , damage and so on . you have a lot of different varaiations to check out . I can`t praise it enough.

hmmmm maybe the fact that the game doesn't hold your hand through it . it gives you the basics , your powers , the divine item system and so on . but that's what I love about it . there is so much to find by yourself ,
2. a lot of noobs complain about the boss fights , am I the only person in the world who thought of using the "guts ' and "auto-item" abilities ?

kill monsters in the tower , get them to drop "ghoul powder" or "raptors claw" , transmute it into "holy crystals" , use them to one shot the bosses, oh yeah make sure lenneth has a 3-hit bow , that will instantly OP her . it`s WAAAAYYYY better than any weapon in the game except for the demon sword levantine

Why is it hard to get the good ending EVEN with following a guide? I had to change one thing at the end or I didn't have enough points to trigger it.

It's a good game, one I wanted to play since its PSX release, and I finally played it 20 years later
I'm happy I finally did. I'm trying to play games from my backlog, but it's very long, lot of new games are always being released and added to my playlist.
Too bad I don't have enough time to play games multiple times now to see all their endings. I could do that 20 years ago, not anymore.

Did you play that game multiple times to try all endings?

I played the DS game (covenant of the plume) too, but liked it less. it was very short, but I cheated to complete it faster and get the good ending on first run
I'm hoping to play Valkyrie Profile 2 one day!

I've never played any of the Valkyrie games.
What am I supposed to imagine what it is?

it's a JRPG game with some turn based active battle system themed over the Nordic mythology.
You play as one of the god, a valkyrie, which are recruiting war heroes among humans (the fighters dying with honor on the battle field go to their paradise, the valhalla) to help them fight for the upcoming apocalypse (Ragnarok).

the game is a mix of 2D side scrolling plateformer (town, dungeon, etc.) with turn base RPG battles mode.
The battles can have up to 4 members, each of whom is assigned to a controller button. they attack the targeted ennemy when you press the corresponding button.

You can make all 4 characters rush to the enemy at the same time, or time it better to do more damages (one character doing uppercut, making the enemy goes in the air, another character hitting with the bow/arrow while in the air, etc.)


The game is hard to get the good ending. you'd have to follow a guide to achieve it. that's kind of too bad to have to play the game with a guide, spoiling it a lot.

a little thing called Seal value, see , as valkyire folows the god's orders and sends warriors to Valhalla and so on , her SE goes up . in order to get the true ending you have to loswe her SV all the way down to 35 , however the game never makes this clear . and the process of doing so is really complicated (okay I'm exaggerating) but its not easy . you cant visit certain locations and trigger events that make Valkyries seal value go down , before most of them are unlocked .you cant do this when most of the events are first available , since sending warriors to Valhalla during each chapter(mandatory to keep your evaluation high ) will reraise the seal value. also take into account that EVERYTHING you do in the game is optional , dungeons , recruitment , everything is optional . so yeahh I think I got the point across on why its so hard to get the true ending without a guide .


yea I played it multiple time to get both endings , ending C doesn't really count as its a GAME OVER , that happens when your Evaluation falls to 0 .
