Sorry Dimok & Devs I know we are greedy and always ask for more etc..., but is it feasible to apply signature check patcher to IOSU memory (register,...), so that those patches can remain in permanent memory, and not only in volatile memory?
I'm not talking about coldboothax since I know that hack is very risky. Thanks!

What steps should I take to migrate from dimok's fw.img fork, which is coldbooted by haxchi, to this? Do I just modify the syshax.xml to point at this ELF file? Where should I put it (SD or NAND)?

Can someone help me with this? :)

Edit: Nevermind, kinda solved it :)

Hi,
Just tested out the new CFW IOSUHAX thing and I think I've found a problem loading V-Wii games. Just as the console reboots in to Vwii mode it freezes on a black screen and has to be unplugged to turn it off.

I've tried it a few times with the same results. Tested again with the old IOSUHAX and with the recent sig_patcher and it works fine with both of them.

As for a name, what about something straigforward like syshax, sysUhax or Usyshax.

Thanks for all your hard work on this. It's all coming together nicely.

Yes it definitely is not working with vwii games I get the exact same problem.

Ah yes. Sorry I forgot about the vWii mode completely. It was quite simple to fix. Here are all the binaries from before with the vWii mode fixed:

Do you think it's possible to make a version of this that can be installed permanently for permanent sigpatches? (not CBH, but something similar?)

That is actually not that easy as the boot0/boot1 chain only boots signed code. If we modify the code the signature check will fail. For now the only option is to use the contenthax exploits.

Uh... yes, about that... Is there any contenthax aviable aside of haxchii? I mean, i have no DS game and basically tons of N64 CV games, i'd gladly sacrifice one of them.

@dimok Do you intend to update both, the signpatcher and "the new thing"? For the new thing, I'd call it IOSUHax lite.
No real reason to keep the signpatcher updated as the new thing does everything signpatcher does plus a lot more

Thank you for the release and the quick fix.
In any case the first release of the simple sign-patcher was a way faster than the last one, I know it has less functions :)

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
