No. Why are you even using splash screen? I thought everyone moved back to noscreeninit after the screeninit version was causing bricks or something several months back.

Wait, I didn't know we could even switch splash screens. But what would be the point? It's not a theme you get to look at it for all of 2 seconds.

Ok thanks. It hasn't caused any bricks for me.

Yeah it's pretty simple actually. And the point of it is because it's my device and I think it would be cool.. I didn't think I needed any other reason than that lol. Besides is one of the main points of home brew and CFW not further customization?

Anyway I'm gonna look more into this screeninit brick situation and probably end up switching. Thanks eh

We have a splash screen? Where?

In Luma3DS, you can turn on splash screens and place a splash.bin and/or a splashbottom.bin to put a splash screen on the top/bottom screen. You would need a 400x240 for the top image and a 320x240 for the bottom image and then convert it to a .bin using an online 3ds homebrew tool.

Woah neat. Too bad it's cosmetic and useless.

Somewhat like your comment you mean? Except as alpha pointed out, there is a use for it. So why don't you just focus on yourself for now
What a nice and totally not useless comment that people could have lived without. It's still cosmetic to show your buttons on boot. You act as if you cannot remember 2 buttons. And considering he isn't just handing out his 3DS and advertising how to screw with it's settings, there is literally no need to announce what buttons do what.

Good try though.

I cannot remember which buttons do what 2 months after installing the payloads, with the splash i only must remember to press select and reboot to see the options.
Do people need to use hourglass/decrypt9 more than once at month if they don't do anything more than playing?

Are you comparing something you see for 3-5 seconds to something that I am staring at for several hours on end? Thats super cute of you, but it's laughable. They are both cosmetic and useless, but one is actually being used.
Yes I am, because that's something you'll keep seeing even when you stopped playing Pokemon (also, your argument was only about "cosmetic and useless", not "cosmetic and useless and not long enough to be worth it").

Third of all, indeed, a splash can be seen as just "cosmetic and useless" since.. well, it is cosmetic and useless, and you see it only 3-5 seconds as you said. Well, that's why some people here try to spice it up by shuffling them, so it's still cosmetic and useless but worth it. Some people change their boot animations on their phones, even though no one powers their phone off, so why not have shuffled splashes on a 3DS people turn on and off everyday?

Except you won't. No one is rebooting their 3DS that much. It's completely cosmetic. And as someone who has put CM of all sorts on multiple phones, that is all completely cosmetic as well. Same goes for cellphones. Whats going to happen more? You play a game for 3-5 hours, or your reboot your phone/3ds once per hour? Even so, you are still only seeing that boot screen 3-5 seconds per time. I see this mod the entire time I play the game.

I know you wanted to win an argument to make your day better, but you're being silly. I don't care what people do with their 3DS, I was just making a general statement that it was cosmetic and useless, as in it looks pretty but does nothing to improve my console. At least with my pokemon mod it makes the game I'm playing for several hours look pretty, not just for 5 seconds every few days, as I hardly reboot my 3DS ever.

No, they really don't. At this point you install Luma updater, and you install freeshop, and you never even need to use anything else ever again. Unless you somehow manage to screw up a sure thing, there is very little reason to even remove the SD card anymore. We have a fairly perfect system going.

Cosmetic embellishments are great if you're into them. Personally, I like my machines greeting me with needlessly aggressive insults and / or NSFW / bizarre images upon boot up because that kind of shit makes me smile.

Anyway, I have a folder in my luma folder which contains a few folders of alternate splash.bins and splashbottom.bins. It's easy enough to paste any of these using CTRXplorer to the luma folder if I fancy a change.

Well, you don't, but some people do. Obviously not reboot the 3DS for fun, but just turn it off when they stop playing. Meaning that they see their splash(es) everytime they want to play Pokémon. And yes, that's just 5 seconds to oppose to 3-5 hours (well, more like 1-2 hours for me but whatever) but that's still amusing/funny to some people, even if it's useless. See how some complain about the black New 3DS being only available now... even though whatever, they're only looking at the screens when playing, not the shell.

I know you wanted to win an argument to make your day better, but you're being silly.
Not at all, otherwise I'd have chosen an argument I care about, not this one since I don't use splashes and I use the no-outline patch.
Though I may use splashes again since it's so boring to wait for a 3DS with a 128GB card to boot...
