Hardware I'm about to buy a New 3DS, is there any specific model I should go for?

I want to be able to run custom firmware on it so I can run backups of games I purchase legitimate physical copies of, and I know for it to be easy I need one with a version less than 10.7. Is there any specific model of the N3DS(probably XL) I should get to try and make sure it'll be a good version?

Just try to find a N3DS XL the max firmware of 10.7 since you can still downgrade it without using a DSI exploit

As far as i know, Nintendo Refurbished system comes with 10.7, you could also get the mario bros bundle, which comes with a version lower than 11.
or, if you hit ebay, you could get one with an specific firmware ;D

just get any tbh, none are on 11.2 yet
hopefully you'll be 10.7 and below but if not just buy legends of exidia ASAP before it gets pulled and wait for slowhax

the hyrule edition 3xl
as far as i read only comes in 10.3 max (mine was on 9.something i don't remember exactly) and most are dual isp screens (i know mine is dual isp)

slowhax is a much simpler dsiwarehax downgrade method for 11.0 and 11.1, doesnt require a second 3ds or a hardmod
should be coming out on december 27th, or 33c3
you need to buy legends of exidia ASAP tho

Yeah, while Nintendo does not remove it from also redownloable content or their servers.
I can still download FieldRunners.

when they announced the the vun that allowed downgrading for consoles higher than 9.2 last year it took about two month to be implemented . . . the conference does not give tools/hacks it gives new info to lesser hackers

I don't know the difference 100%, but ISP is the better one. I think it means the 3D still looks good at a weird angle, but that's it. Feel free to look it up yourself to get the actual accurate info.

IPS = In Plane Switching. This is the newer tech. Better viewing angles. Usually better color reproduction. But they have slower response time. TN = Twisted Nematic. TN screen's 90's tech looks white and "Washed out" when viewed from an angle. They are said to have better response time and someone told me they have lower power consumption, don't know if that is true. I have a few 3ds systems and some have both. You cant tell the difference much unless you move the 3ds at an angle. Really.

People are charging a ton of money for downgraded systems. This might not be the best option.

most 3ds systems have tn screens
many people dismiss isp screens as unnecessary and on a o3ds with its horrid 3d viewing angle i would agree but on a n3ds its super stable 3d would seem like a wasted feature if the screen whited/lightened if i was not looking at the screen head on . . . . no no no n3ds needs isp i.m.o.
