There are lots of europeans people who already have their cartridge (even the local Amazon already shipped the game) on twitter and no one complained about a ban. Nintendo is not enough crazy to ban all the europeans who have their retail versions, as it's not a leak anymore so I would say it's safe to go online for the EUR version now.

The USA release date was different, as reviews weren't even published at that time and it was definitively a leak.
Hahaha.
Hahaha.
Don't know what else to tell you people who wanna play with fire time and time again.

I don't play online so I'm not concerned, it was just a supposition. When I play versus mode, I always play with my brother so we don't bother to use the internet connection as we are in the same house, we use local wifi which don't require to be connect to the game servers.

And as the pokebank won't be updated before January, I don't think I'll play versus before, as I can't get back (easily) my team which is on my OR/AS (retail cartridge) versions.

But if Nintendo plan to ban lots of peoples who bought the games, I guess they are also starting to play with fire by hurting their own customers (it's the first time the local Amazon sent the game before so I guess lots of people supposed the release date was shifted because of the USA leak).

Maybe some wrong bans. I will report if I hear some people banned here but for now, no one complained here (only talking about retail versions, not pirate ones).

It's not like I need the online personally, but curious about this situation (I only play with my brother so we always use local wi-fi, not the online functions, so we don't even need game updates when they are released).
erhm...dude, various people here from Germany, Spain, and France have reported that they got banned after the 18th for playing early. Please stop spreading wrong information, people may get banned because of you.

Various but not the majority (at least, no ones complained yet in my French twitter TL and though, I have a subscription to lots of Pokemon Streamers). It's not wrong information, it's supposition. We can't even be sure some people were banned with the real cartridge, though they would have nothing to win by saying that.

Check my previous message, where I saw the best might be to wait two more days before going online (for retail carts at least, because pirated versions might still get banned for other reasons, we don't really know).

But I'm still waiting to see thousand of european peoples complaining because they got banned and for now, still saw nothing like that. I guess we'll know it soon, as the USA wave ban happened after a few days.

There was a guy in this forum who got banned with a catridge he recieved early so... Nintendo is banning ANYONE connecting to the servers before the date.

Erhm... wtf ? We can't confirm. I don't know. You don't know. No one knows. That's why it is NOT FUCKING SAFE. So stop telling people it's safe because of YOUR RANDOM ASSUMPTION.

And, this is from your own post.

If he got it before the 18, seems normal.

Again, reread my post and please quote where I saw it's 100% safe to play online and encouraged european people to do so. Thanks.

But you said yourself "assumptions", so I guess it's settled.

Not to mention I posted several tweets saying to people it might be more safe to wait until the 23 to play with their retails carts, so it's really weird for someone supposed to say it's safe to play online ;)

I wonder what will truly happen in the following days.
People calling nintendo trying to get unbanned mentioned that the ban seems to be issued from Nintendo of Japan.
Banning permanently from playing the game online before release date does seem harsh, but I guess nintendo is labeling as an 'illegal' copy, because I'm sore over 50% of the banned people are playing a pirated version, but they can't really leave banned the people who truly legit got a game cart early (as punishing the customer for the store that broke the street day feels unfair)

Also, regarding on how ninty seems to be able to 'detect' and ban people, it seems that in this scenario the ban is sure if you played before the official release date. Haven't read about any bans after the game got properly released in the US.

I would say it's safe for people to ignore your posts now.

Yeah, and there's a possibility Nintendo might be crazy (regarding the last reports of some people) so this message doesn't say it's safe to play online.

I would say it's safe for people to ignore your post now.

You're welcome to do so.

tbh people pre-release were saying "lul it's fine to go online i'm not banned" and now look at where we are now so we don't know what to expect anymore and like someone said, watch the ban wave happen again in the 22 or 23 for Europeans

Note that we are not even sure it's safe to play online with an USA pirated copy, even now its officialy released, as bans don't happen immediately (there could do some bans for retail cartridges which are used early, and also for pirates versions).

If I remember correctly, Nintendo already did some wave bans for pirated games.

(And we'll never know before it happen again. There's always a risk with pirated games).

Nintendo can't between a legal copy from an illegal one, they're just banning everyone who connected online.

What about the last wave ban then? (there were a few ones before this Pokemon one). Is the real reason known now? (just saw a few months ago or maybe more some people complaining about ban but never checked if the reason was known).

"OMG Nintendo never banned people for playing leaks early before, so they will not ban us now !! Let's all break their terms of violation that we all agreed on and play before release date OMG OMG !!!!"

"OMG EUR is in the same region as AUS, and Nintendo don't know how to use a simple IP check and country filter on their own server to see if we were in EUR or not !!! Let's all break their terms of violation that we all agreed on and play before release date OMG OMG !!!"

What about the last wave ban? (there were a few ones before this Pokemon one). Is the real reason known then?

I have no knowledge of people banned for playing other games. The other banwaves were about people using Sky3ds, in which you need to do an extra step to play the game without telling on nintendo's face that you're using a fake cart, the ones who used fake credit cards to buy from the eshop and the people going crazy on the miiwhatevergameitis...

I was refering to that : https://gbatemp.net/threads/error-code-002-0102-have-i-been-banned.380654/ but I might reread the whole thread, maybe it's explained in it now.

(From what I remember, first people supposed it was because of the use of .3dz format but I think some people said there were banned with .cia, but as always, only assumptions).
