Has anyone else noticed that the pstv seems to ALWAYS use bilinear filtering in PSP mode but lacks the option to toggle bilinear filtering on or off?

On the menu that would normally contain options to toggle bilinear filtering, set the right stick options, camera, and color space, only the right stick option and a new choice for clearing some PSP data show up on the pstv.

With the whitelists, antiblacklists, cheats, and spoofing, the community has done some pretty tricky things with the vita software already.
Perhaps someone has an idea or lead on how to bring this option back, maybe through spoofing the pstv as a vita or some file replacement wizardry?

I realize most eyes are on the Henkaku side of things right now, but if a new PSP exploit is found for 3.60 this issue will become more relevant to anyone owning a pstv and doesn't like seeing their games as a blurry eyesore.

Another possibility is RetroArch... It's a long shot though. The psx rearmed core was pulled from nightlies because it was broken and ppsspp core has yet to be added at all.

Like I said long shot though.

Back to topic, I'm sure this could be possible if you got the right dev too work on it.

That might be a realistic solution for PSX as compatibility has been spotty in pops, and even worse on the vita from my understanding.
But for PSP mode when you have access to it running semi-natively with near 100% compatibility already, using retroarch isn't a solution or option, nor what I desire.

Adrenaline is now out...
Is there anyway to back port the option to remove biliniear filtering into the PSTV (or anyway to shut it off)? It aggravates me to no end that this feature was removed (WHY SONY!?!?!).

What issues are you having with it? I assume it's on by default to prevent the scaled up display looking like a jagged mess.

Also don't the adrenaline options override this type of filter or are you just looking for a raw unprocessed signal?

The option to shut off the Bilinear filter is gone on the PSTV. Sony removed it for some unexplainable reason.
Adrenaline can only be set to "official" mode for filtering. Which doesn't force off the Bilinear filter, just uses what you have set in the official PSP settings (which can't be set anymore on PSTV).

Oh that's bad news if adrenaline handles it like this, it's unfortunate that it appears to have been overlooked.
Since he did focus on improving the visual clarity options for the handheld version of the vita, I had really hoped theflow would have anticipated this filtering issue with the PSTV.

I'd appreciate if someone could either tweet him the PSTV information or this topic, so he can clarify if this was simply an oversight, or if the problem was just too difficult to address in this first release.
I've attempted to do so when I first created this topic, but the fresh twitter account I registered to do so kept getting flagged as a possible spam bot and I fear it never reached him.

The Flow has released this early with the intention to work on it next Feb. So you will have to wait .
This topic was posted PRIOR to the announcement that PSP access on 6.61 was being developed as adrenaline.
We're aware that adrenaline is currently under active development and this release is quite early on. If there's one thing I am, it's patient.

Regardless, the question still stands. Is theflow aware of this filtering behavior that is unique to the PSTV?
I haven't been following his twitter close enough to know if he's already addressed that he's aware of this issue with PSTV filtering or not.

That's how it should work, but actually Adrenalin always uses bilinear filtering, no matter what you select in the official setting.

Maybe this will help you, apparently its a bug that turns off all filtering:

Instructions:

1) Play a game

2) In Adrenaline Menu, set Custom Graphics Filtering to OFFICIAL and go back to playing your game

3) Hold PS button until a grey overlay with settings appear

4) Press the ON/OFF and wait until the screen goes black

5) Press the ON/OFF button again

6) unpeel the lock screen

7) profit

P.S: If there is another way how to turn filtering off, let me know, this is the only way I found so far (that looks like a bug).

update: works for me in other games, even XMB

Thanks, that's a good workaround for now.

Edit: It seems like you only have to do this once. As long as you don't change the filter again, the filter stays off.

This may be true, but does this comment have anything to do with the actual discussion we are having in this topic?
We are specifically talking about Sony's removal of the option to toggle bilinear filtering off in PSP mode on the PSTV, while including this option on the ps vita.
The visuals of the GoW collections have nothing to do with this as that's a vita game, not a psp game running on the vita.

I agree with you
Just thought of adding my comment instead of creating a new thread.
sorry

No worries, just trying to keep this thread on topic about this singular very specific issue of bilinear filtering, in order that it might be addressed.
