PlayStation-Update-PS4-555x328.jpg

According to wolol.net, the playstation now has new firmware up to 4.06 that fixes the exploits found in 4.01 by the chinese hackers. Now that is out, if you have any intention of running hacks, DO NOT UPDATE your system. Probably most people will try and just buy another system and have one as main stay for Playstation network access saftey without concern of bans, and keep the other strictly for mods. So if you one of the people who plan to do that, restrict yourself from updating, maybe disconnect from network to be sure. Of course you cannot access some features without update so think carefully. It is possible that due to recent events circulating the playstation 4 pro incompatibility with some users TV monitors or other problems, that it may fix the system to function better, of course is just a possibility.

When PS4 firmware 4.05 was released, I speculated it was a reply from Sony to the recent announce of a PS4 jailbreak on firmware 4.01. The authors of the jailbreak, Chaitin tech, had announced they would disclose the exploit to Sony. People have been fast to let me know that patching a vulnerability so quickly after the announce was unlikely (unless the chaitin hackers had disclosed the issue to Sony a while ago).

I mean since 4.06 patched the exploit developers have no choice, but to release it. I mean even if piracy isn't instant at least we can do other cool stuff. Besides there is a team working on backups currently. BTW who would want too download games over 40gb! Sounds like a pain in the ass to me...

Wondering if its worth leaving the ps4 collecting dust for years until this hack allows piracy
Okay, in the other thread you said you were waiting for good games (of which there are plenty imo) to eventually come to ps4 yet didn't happen, yet here you talk about piracy as if it matters for games you're apparently not interested in, so which one is it?

Never said you hurt my feelings, I'm simply curious as to why 1: you still have a ps4 instead of selling it off for a pc/xbox/nintendo/whatever as apparently it along with the games on it suck to you, yet 2: you seem interested in piracy on it/for it.
Two conflicting groups of thought.

for me is impossible have 1 PS4
Unless you're really into online/multiplayer gaming, I'd just keep away from updating until a specific game leaves you no other option. Once that happens assess what you'd rather have, homebrew or ability to play that game and decide from there.

Quite content on pc and xbone atm, waiting for a nice limited edition pro that doesn't look like a toasted cheese sandwich.

Ended up updating mine, not many games besides street fighter 5 spark my interest and the likelihood of no online if piracy on ps4 ever become a reality blows.

PS4 steam would be awesome tho.

PS4 Steam would suck. The chances of us getting full driver support is slim. I mean even the PS3 Linux didn't have full driver support. Just remember when you are playing games in the future and you see all those hackers and think, "Damn I wish I could hack.". You will also remember you lost your chance. I had a PS3 on 3.55, but I updated. I wish I hadn't. Still now I have a CFW PS3.

So there's a chance the "exploit" might be possible on 4.05?
Gonna leave my PS4 offline, so it can never update (4.05) and just use my PS4 Pro for new games and online functionality.

The title says patches hacks found in 4.01 not 4.05. Those guys who found the linux exploit on version 4.01 reported it too Sony.

new firmware up to 4.06 that fixes the exploits found in 4.01 by the chinese hackers
And in the black box:
"People have been fast to let me know that patching a vulnerability so quickly after the announce was unlikely"
If the exploit wasn't patched in 4.05, then they should technically work on that firmware.

We don't know that though. So far we only tried 4.01 the devs are scared too update to 4.05.
