Hacking Safe to update Out of Region games?

I've never had a problem with updating them so far (touch wood) although due to how my eShop is linked to the EU/UK marketplace I always had to sideload the updates and install them via FBI as it could never download the update from that region's eShop.
From personal expierence, it's safe to update out of region games but be careful either way.

I've updated CIA versions of EU games via the eShop without a bother before but due to how my eShop is region linked, it just times out (or before I used the config app, it would tell me to accept the EULA for another region) if I try and update an out of region game via the eShop.
