I don't understand much of it, or any of the terms used... (...or this forum, in fact.) My 3ds is at 11.2. I know I probably need to get homebrew, but I'm not sure how in my current firmware, and I'm not sure what steps to take after that. Do I need to install freeshop? What exactly do I need to do to start playing, or can I not do anything on my firmware level?

Word of advice: don't update next time one rolls around (however long that will be). Keep checking on sites like this, it will happen. But don't expect anything before Sun and Moon are released haha.
They don't have the means of getting the games before release unless they have a Gateway/Sky3DS.
Just FYI as far as I know, you only get banned if you go online. I've been playing for a few days now but I'm not stupid so I didn't use any of the online features *derp*. No ban for me yet. Someone should totally correct me on this if I'm wrong so I can uninstall that shit...
At this point even if you hack it, the games will be officially out by the time you could, so if you can only afford one thing just get the legit game Friday.
That said, if you still want CFW, go buy a MK7 2DS (it comes on 6.0) and hack it, then perform the DSiWare Downgrade from it to your current system.

You can't do shit with that firmware, sorry bud. I wouldn't recommend you get Pokemon Sun or Moon because it could get you banned.
