You can get it hardmodded if you have a nand backup but it is warned not to do it for a reason.Title, i think i might have figured something out. Worth a try, anyways.

I dont want people to get too excited, but we may be able to use the gamepad's "fast boot menu" to bypass the system.xml file that bricks and go straight to haxchi/HBLjust tell us what you figured out
I'm curious
What happens exactly when you turn on the wii u? Specifically, does it show the WiiU/Nintendo screen before the error code shows?I have access to my GamePad, but i can't do anything, tell your friend he is fucked

Don't you have to activate standby mode for this quick start menu?I dont want people to get too excited, but we may be able to use the gamepad's "fast boot menu" to bypass the system.xml file that bricks and go straight to haxchi/HBL

What happens on the gamepad?yeah 3-4 seconds after the "Wii U" logo, it shows me an error code with some text
yeah lol if Nexo Didn't have that its no use for himDon't you have to activate standby mode for this quick start menu?
I disabled it because I didn't want to risk an update in standby.yeah lol if Nexo Didn't have that its no use for him
Well everything comes with pros and cons and the con of not enabling it is preventing any form of recovery :/I disabled it because I didn't want to risk an update in standby.

He had no NAND backup so hardmod ain't an option so yeah no recovery optionsAny form of recovery?
No there are options for those who are patient.
Not true, a backup won't be needed given enough time. boot1 or boot2 will become custom, and recovery options will be available.I think this guy is thinking what I'm thinking, since quick start temporarly sets your default title to whatever you choose on the quick start menu it should in theory allow you to bypass this horrible brick, but ofc if you did not enable it its hopeless =(
