Hacking How long before the Wii U gets a true custom firmware like luma?

Just curious. I've tried setting up rednand, but it doesn't work for me. I looked at other things like funkiiU and wii u usb helper. They seem complicated. Not that it matters since I can't get rednand working anyway. So I decided to just wait until further progress is made.

We will get one once salt's tools are released.
The current tools are not the cfw your hoping for.

There is already an implementation similar to arm9 loader hax its called iosuhax and you can use it to do anything you could on arm9 loader hax apart from the fact you need to run it every time you want to use it after reboot , coldboothax is still being developed but soon will have exact same functionality as luma

The current rednand is "a real cfw" like Luma (ok, more like Palantine but mostly drama-free and legal) and similiarly Fix94's iosu image is literally like Pasta

They're not any more complicated than their 3DS equivalents (FunkeyCia and 3DSeStuff respectively), in fact UTikDownloadHelper is even cleaner and less-featured than 3DSeStuff

To me a real "CFW" is like what we had on the psp or PS3 and even the 360 to a certain degree. A firmware replacement that is installed onto the system, that unlocks the firmware restrictions and allows unsigned code and complete control over the hardware. This fw.img is not a true cfw in the true sense.

We can do all that at the moment apart from installing it onto the wiiu and region free everything else can be done.

Yes using the sysconfigtool the problem I have with that is som egames don't work like the USA version of new remix pack does not work using region free with the sysconfigtool and some others don't work also so it's not an ideal solution at the moment.

Btw we have "Luma's" signpatches without rednand (FIX94's iosu fork with wupserver)
We can dump OTP (In 3DS you should be on 2.1.0)
Install good games (without signpatches)

our coldboothax actually only load a modified game (like menuhax with payloads)

The 3ds has only managed to get to this stage in the last year with a9lh and with the current patchwork of hacks and dodgy fuckery we have for wii u atm i think its still a way off before we reach that stage.

That maybe the case, you are fine and so are plenty of others, but i bet it wont be long before we have the cries of kids and newbs that have bricked their system due to the unfriendlyness and confusion of the current mix of hacks available.
Im not new to console hacking by a long way, but im not interested in running the current setup until its streamlined and a one time run deal. I dont want to be explaining to my kids that they have to run an exploit before they can use an emulator or play a game that has some dodgy dlc installed on usb.

Ill keep an eye on the scene and when it finally gets its ass together and all these devs work towards a common goal instead of the bits and pieces we have now, then ill run with the hack.
