Not sure if this is the right place to ask but how do you view the models? You have to unpack the GARC file containing them right? But Ohana3DS throws a lot of "Unsupported file format" errors at pretty much anything I try to open with it afterwards (except for sprite files I came across) so I was wondering if there's another program people are using.

Better yet I'd love to have the in-battle animated sprites for all the Pokemon but I'm not sure how to go about dumping those lol

Soooo I extracted the Moon RomFS, went to the Pokemon models GARC (a/0/9/4), extracted it with the tool that goteniai posted a few pages back, then opened multiple bins in the compiled Ohana3DS on page 3. Some load withing missing models and only textures while others just get error. Anyone know if I'm missing anything?

My unpacking tool has some bugs extracting the folders. Please use the pk3ds that I just posted.

Thanks but with moon any time I try to view Wild Encounters and a few others I get "pk3DS has stopped working".

Any idea what the problem could be.
It's because it isn't programed to get the GARCS for the Sun and Moon Filesystem. You can only use it to unpack and repack GARCS.

Thanks CrystalLink, is there anything I can use to view the Wild Encounters then.
Not at the moment, unless you are really good at hex editing.

However, Kaphotics plans on releasing the tools he used in the datamine the day Sun and Moon are officially released. You might be able to edit wild encounters with it.

The author hasn't changed the links to the new files yet. I've only focused on the text files (Recall that I'm a translator) so I haven't looked at them yet.

I'll add hex editing to the list then lol

Thats great but a shame I have to wait until then. I don't want to edit the encounters just looking for something to tell me which route I can find each Pokemon.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
