Excellent stuff, this is the start of a full blown Retro Arch release for Wii U.

As these standalone libretro emus or are they RA cores?

I'm not really the bright one in this but wouldn't have been easier to maybe port over the already existing wii homebrew emulators like snes9x, genesis plus FCEUltraGX VBAGX and others? I mean or least just make one like it? No offense but the retroarch doesn't have the friendliest GUI for simply loading a rom. Just being able to select emulator, find a rom on the list menu and start playing is easy and fine since vwii eumlators.:ninja:

No it is easier for retroarch to be ported.
Plus the gui is easy once you use it.
Standalone emulators will come soon.

Just tested 7 Grand Dad on the NES emulator.... graphical issues and no sounds. But it is the first version, so I'm okay with the issues.

I agree with you on this about the GUI. It did seem much easier/friendlier on the Wii/vWii, with the standalone GX emulators. I do have to say though...I believe the NES & SNES cores of Retroarch for Wii U do run the games smoother and the response time when I push a button on the controller seems to have less delay.

If some games do work without needing special emulators like snes9x 100% compatibility rate, is fine, as long as the games i play aren't the issue. I actually use ZSNESW simply cause is easy to understand and low requirements, while i could use snes9x on pc or bsnes, is only when i need to. I just prefer something that is easy and gets me to my game as fast as possible without much problem.

I'm sorry to say but retro arch has never been that emulator. I understand is the all in one emulator and is working all well and proper, not really the issue, the function is never the problem. setting it up is the problem, to work is probably as complicated as mame, which is another poorly intigrated thing. Setup for any emulator i just need it to be as easy as dragging and dropping a file to the window on pc or console having a list to browse and option to configure with simple effort. Spending more time in menus trying to configure things to work properly is usually not what comes to mind.

Beggars can't be choosers RA Wii U is still in its early stages, if RetroArch and other complex emulators irk people that much, they're more than welcome to use the emulators on vWii. Just saying. :P

Once Retroarch's emulator cores are running well on Wii U, there's no reason why someone couldn't write an alternative front end for them, if they wanted a different interface experience. Someone would have to want to do it tho, these things don't tend to get done just because people whine.
