If so, what was the point of installing the rest of this here?

I installed the homebrew launcher, and decrypt9 as well,

So i need to follow through all the way to arm9loader. Okay.

How is a direct answer not faster? From arm9loader I can play 3ds roms? Do I need to change my region for that?

After that's installed you can install free shop, which is pretty much a cracked eshop.

Woah, all I'm asking for is how to play the 3ds roms I have. After all this installation I still have no clue how to do it
For playing 3DS extension ROM files, you need a flashcard like Gateway.

For installing games directly on your 3DS (without ROM files), follow that guide.

installing 3DS games directly?

Also, I followed the guide. I installed arm9loader. Now what? It doesn't tell me how to install games directly

you download freeshop's cia (search the forum).

(you will need to scan a qr that provide a source for the app to download the games, you should search something like titlekeys for 3ds, I dont think i cant post the linkn here).

Arm9Loader wont boot on my 3ds when holding start on boot. Does that homebrew menu not work for installing the freeshop?

Don't use the homebrew launcher for installing things. Are you trying to use FBI.3dsx to install stuff? Because that will not work from the homebrew launcher when you are over 9.2 firmware. Use the injected FBI instead. You should have injected it as part of the guide.

To install stuff you can scan a QR code with FBI ("QR code" in the menu) or install from .cia ("SD" in the menu).

And what do you mean by Arm9Loader won't boot on Start? A9LH (Luma) will start on boot with no buttons held. Holding buttons is for launching payloads. The guide has you assign Hourglass9 to Start, so that's what should be booting if you hold Start on boot.

if you followed the guide correctly, you should have injected fbi replacing the health and information app, using hourglass9.

inside your home menu, if you search for the health and information app (big yellow triangle), you will notice if has the fbi banner on the top screen, so when you open it you will have accesed a full featured cia/file manager, with the hability to instal cias from the sd, or via qr code.

Well. Going to the homebrew menu doesnt work anymore (browser) Now it just freezes. fucking awesome.

I followed the guide. All the way up to where it says HOLD START ON BOOT TO BRING UP ARM9LOADERHAX.

It's not doing that. It's booting normally.

I can boot the Luma options and that's about it.

I cant install hourglass 9 because it Requires me booting arm9loader by holding start on boot. Which it wont do. And I followed every single direction up till then.

Where in the guide does it say "hold Start to boot arm9loaderhax"? That's news to me.

Did you follow the instruction about taking the bin file from the Hourglass9 download, placing it in luma/payloads and renaming it Start_hourglass.bin (or similar, but starting with "start_")

then you have not copied the hourglass9.bin to /luma/payloads.

you should do that, and RENAME it to start_hourglas9.bin.
(or ANYBUTTONYOUWANT_hourglass9.bin, this is how you determine with which buttom it opens)

What's your 3DS's firmware? Are you sure you installed arm9loaderhax? It sounds like you just placed decrypt9 to the '3ds' folder and you're trying to boot it from HBL. That won't work if you're above 9.2.

Yes, that's booting Hourglass9 not a9lh. A9LH now runs on every boot to launch Luma CFW. You don't have to hold Start.

to clarify a little more what Quantumcat said, because it seems like you dont understand exactly how it works.

Arm9loaderhax its a autostart exploit that its permanently install on your console, the only thing it does, its loading the arm9loaderhax.bin payload, which in your case (and almost everyone else in the world), its luma3ds payload.

additionaly, luma allows loading other payloads from its /luma/payloads folder, so you dont have to change the .bin file in the root of the sd every time you need to use another arm9 payload app.

that's why you have to add the start_ or x_ or y_ at the beginning of the hourglas9.bin payload, so luma knows that it has to boot it when you pres start during launch, if not, then it wil not attemp to boot anything else, and it will boot sysnand.
