Should gamers be seperated by age?

There are kids that just want to have fun. This is where kiddy games are.

Then kids that try to be cool and adult like (wtf is wrong with the mofern world) This is where the adultish games are with lots of swearing.
Also teen all the way to college. Hyperactive and trash talking, typically what some kids are immetating. They also don't get darker humors.

Then adults who learns to appreciate what people do.

Or maybe get out of that specific server?
Maybe don't use mic
Vote kick
People can fake age

This would be pointless
Maybe if people who sign up for things as their real age weren't barred from content, then nobody would have to fake their age. I really think that if an account registered as a 14 year old wants to buy the latest Call of Duty, he should be able to. The kid'll be using his parent's money anyways. But if matchmaking was separated between kids and adults, you'll definitely still have the "edgy cool kids" registering as adults. More disturbingly, you'll create the perfect system for adults to register as children and get their pedobear on.

The kind of adult game that gives you mental trauma is not the same as COD. Sometimes kiddy games hide really dark themes, for example Nintendo, rather than toilet humours.
I think maybe the biggest problem is that 16-25 is not separated from actual adults who have life experiences.

Assuming 12 year olds only play COD and don't play any other multi player game.
Yeah. I forgot minecraft... Lol

But really I do find some games are way more prone to that due to demographics

I guess but I think around the 16-22 range or so that maturity really can vary.

Edit: Sorry. What I am saying is that maybe games should be classified as 16-22 and adults. So there is T rating for cod and M rating for really dark games.
I had my moments of desperation in my life.

Educate parents.
16/18+ games are 16/18+ for a reason.

But is it a good reason? One would hope people can tell reality apart from computer games by that point, not to mention the standards are rather different between games and films for no reason anybody managed to adequately explain, to say nothing of the difficulties with film rating if I were to use that as a baseline ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Film_Is_Not_Yet_Rated , it is not hard to find on streaming sites if you would rather).

Anyway there was a classic psychological... experiment -- a company was making little cards that surveyed people for magazines and whatnot. Along comes I think it was Edward Bernays and gets them to not categorise by age and gender and your basic and boring stuff and instead do by personality type. Response rates went through the roof. Age is useful in many cases but I do remember that when trying to do such things. Being as games are typically entertainment then I am not sure age is as relevant as other things you might look at.

I'm just a retailer, I need to enforce it.

Just following orders huh? Fair enough, however your earlier post made it seem like you were taking a position. Also depending upon where you find yourself in the world then enforcement of such things is voluntary, the higher courts in the US repeatedly having struck down any attempts to get things legally enforced. An older article but an interesting one on the matter http://www.out-law.com/page-5810

Nope, maturity is key. I've been playing M rated games since I was 13 and not once have a killed anyone. There are assholes in every community and trying to come up with some kind age restriction on a video game is silly. People can lie and it's not like the game industry is checking for IDs when you create an online account. Like someone said before just block them, kick them or play with people you know.(real life and online)

Heck, we've even got immature 30 years old morons ruining games. Age is just a number after all. Separating by age won't work and won't change anything, that's a fact.

Hey I've been playing since even younger and haven't had a problem since :P . I would usually avoid voice calls though because of being younger and therefore you wouldn't really be taken seriously I also suck at any MMO

It's not age restriction but seperating young adults from real adults.
