Hacking If you need a real reason to move away from rxTools... this might be it.

Well, I've been using rxTools since god knows how long because I was ignorant and decided to not fix what ain't broke.

So I hung onto it because it just worked fine for me... until the New Leaf update came out...

After updating New Leaf while using rxTools, you will find that the game freezes after restarting and it will no longer launch past the Nintendo 3DS screen. If you don't play New Leaf, I suppose this doesn't matter to you, but other games in the future like Pokemon Sun & Moon may very well produce the same issue once they're released. To fix it, I finally changed my CFW to Luma3DS and the issue just fixed itself immediately and the game works fine now.

Just a personal story of mine; do what you will everyone.

(and before you give me flac for any reason, I'm using a legally purchased digital copy of the game from off the eShop.)

I hope the same happens to sun and moon. That way rxtools users have to update to play it.

It likely needs an updated firm/kernel (2.52-0 i think) to launch which rxtools isn't using.

I'm not so concerned since I'm not on here that often, but I figured it'd be a fair warning to those who still use it because exactly this is going to happen to them, lol.

It really didn't take more than a minute to switch... just copied a file and a folder and presto.

If this is an issue for everyone, then it will give everyone the need to switch. As @xtheman166 said, its most likely the kernal issue. And that means that new games could be hit with that update as well. Or maybe all the important games. That way everyone can get off of that unstable cfw and use something that actually is safer..

Neither would work because luma3ds works with it fine. And what if he is using legit cart + legit update

Are you using the update that just came out for new leaf? It only breaks while using it.

It is patched already. The new leaf update requires the latest firm/kernel. Rxtools doesn't use the latest

Switching from rxtools to luma isn't like switching to a9lh, it requires almost zero effort, and there's no risk involved. I see no excuse not to do it, unless you have tech phobia / anxiety, and the idea of doing anything even as simple as throwing some files onto an SD card frightens you.

In every case if it doesn't work on Rx I will try on Luma

For pokemon moon & sun the demo is working great on RxTools, I don't think it will have a problem who knows.

The demo may work but i wouldn't be too surprised if the full game doesn't
