Hello there

I have a retail Pokemon ORAS cartridge with hundreds of pokemons I would like to transfer to the next Sun/Moon .3ds backup on a Gateway.

The thing is, my retail cartridge doesn't work on my Gateway 3DS (savestate "corrupted"), while it work fine using my brother's 3DS. Also, Pokemon bank doesn't work on two different 3DS.

Here's my equipment :

- o3DS on the latest GW emunand with a Gateway linker
- another o3DS on official 9.8.0 FW
- retail ORAS & XY cartridge
- (future) Sun/Moon .3ds backup file

How can I do it ? Thanks

Normally, It's need Official Pokebank and Legit SM game (Include CIA/FreeShop).
Since this is Gen VI > GenVII. Directly transfer wouldn't work, I assume.
Not sure if Pokebank Homebrew will support this or not.

Yep transfer Pokemons from ORAS retail cartridge (legit) into a Sun and Moon backup (.3ds file) on the gateway

Yeah but Pokemon save is read as "corrupted" on a gateway because it use different encryption method

Actually if the base Sysnand is at 9.2,
gateway won't have that issue with pokebank.

or just dump the save,
and inject into a cia after using a different cfw (luma),
and pokebank would read it correctly.

I switch between both on my A9LH setup.

well.. if you wait a couple of weeks.. hopefully we will have a decent pkhax like aplication for gen7, plus a way to convert .pk6 pokemon files to .pk7 new format, and then injecting them in your sun/moon savegame.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

also..to meddle a little, why does your other old3ds is in original firmware?, why not install cfw just in case, since it doesnt affect your current content.

Did pkhex change Pokemon Location to the correct one when copy over gen V to Gen VI?
Since I never use this function, I trust poketransporter better for getting legit pokemon.

well.. when using poketransporter and the pokebank, the location of the pokemon didn't change, since the whole point it was that you can say "hey look at my unova region pokemons", so they where not legit in terms of competitive play, as they did not have the pentagon.

with pkhex, you could change them one by one to make them truly legit...but it will be tedious... it would be easier just waiting for someone to make a proper compilation of pk7 pokemons whit the whole dex.

No, pentagon doesn't make it legit, it is a sign to prevent pokemon from gen V or lower to enter competitive play.
In term of legit, I mean poketransporter will make sure I got the correct format of pk6. That's why I'm asking.
I still don't trust pkhex for moving pokemon between generation because of this.

well, it wont hurt to try and compare pokemons that where transfer by pokebank, and the ones injected with pkhex, we will see eventualy.

and anwsering your question directly.

you could extract the save from your retail cartridge using a savemanager via homebrew launcher (not the cia, since as you said, doesnt recognize the cartridge), this could be done in either your console or your brothers, since 9.8 has lots of homebrew entrypoints.
After that. use the cia version of a save manager, and inject it to a .3ds rom of xy/oras, and then you should be good to go using a legit copy of pokebank.

that beeing said, i dont think nintendo said anything about when will they are gonna update pokebank to work with sun/moon, I'd like to believe that its gonna be right away.. but who knows, its nintendo we are talking about.

Edit: you could also just boot another cfw temporarily, so that the cartridge is recognized.
