Uh... it's complicated.

So you have a Mii connected to your Nintendo Network ID. Don't put gold pants on that one. Make a copy of that Mii, and put gold pants on copy. Leave your NNID Mii alone. Has to do with Ban Hammer.

Now take the copy, use the app to put gold pants on it, then use THAT Mii for Mii Plaza and games. Wallah. Gold Pants, no Ban.

NNID Mii = Personal? Then yeah. Don't put gold pants on the personal Mii. Make a good copy of it and use the copy.

I don't think it's on GBATemp...??? Could be wrong. The original gold pants method started here on GBATemp but was adopted by others and eventually streamlined into the .CIA app.

Very impressed. Kudos to x65943!

    @The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
