This. Just follow the guide. You'll be getting your scumbag on in no time.
Nintendo gets enough on their overpriced low spec hardware.
They don't even include a charger. A smartphone speced the way a n3ds is would not sell well.
3ds is by far the least portable handheld console Nintendo has ever put out.

Hey, OP, you are Canadian, I can downgrade and install a9lh for you. I just did it for my friend's sea green 2DS.

I'm located in Toronto, Ontario.

Since you only have a 2ds you don't really need pirated 3ds games.
Just get a GBA and SNES emulator and tons of roms and call it a day.

GBA games are some of the best games to ever come out.
3ds games are ok but not at the caliber of older gen games.

?? There are a TON of great 3DS games that run just as well in 2D. Pokemon XY doesn't even allow 3D in the overworld.

@syringe just hack your 2DS yourself. Follow the guide that @GilgameshArcher posted and you should be up and running in 3/4 hours. Don't waste your money and time paying someone else to do it.

We have already tried to hand hold him through the whole process.
He is just plain scared to even try.
If he is so scared of losing $100 he should be very happy using emulators.

So far I've only found a few 3ds games I like but I represent the minority who bought their 3ds to actually use 3d. If I wanted a 2d console I would've either bought a handheld emulator or a gba micro+ flash cart.

hmm, youre probably right. i already have the homebrew launcher, it cant be too difficult.
just wondering, i bought a powersaves and oot3d solely for booting homebrew. is it possible to like download homebrew so i can boot it without having to load up ocarina of time?
i wanted to return both (or at least the powersaves) since ive no intention of using them. thanks.

If you install a9lh your system will boot into cfw (custom firmware) and you can install the homebrew launcher like an eshop game right to your home menu.

I don't see why people say a9lh install is a "lengthy process". It's not that much longer than downgrading to 9.2, which is a requirement for any CFW use anyway. Especially if someone has a n3ds, as it's just as easy now to set up a9lh as setting up CFW/emuNAND, if not easier at this point (no need to set up emuNAND)
