Hi,
as (imho) many still have a 5.3.2 WiiU and for one reason or another they can't or don't want to update now to 5.5.1 (yes, I know, all the stuff you can do with 5.3.2 you can do now with 5.5.1) if Nintendo releases an update we will miss the opportunity to update to 5.5.1

In a thread here on GBATemp someone wrote that Paper Mario Color Splash has the 5.5.1 update on disc, meaning that if Nintendo release 5.5.2 (or whatever they will number) people with 5.3.2 WiiU just need the Paper Mario disc and they are saved.

Is it possible to confirm this? will be nice also to list the region of Paper Mario that has the update (because can happen that a region has the update and the other don't)

Wow, cool. Then, I can assume that I can update my 5.3.2 to 5.5.1 using Paper Mario instead of going online, right?

About this update, I saw that I can't play online if I'm not on 5.5.1, but pondering about how many "hacks" we have today for 5.3.2 compared to 5.5.1, and what is coming our way (IOSU hacks, emuNAND, etc), would be better to stay on 5.3.2 without online play, right?

will be nice if we get multiple confirmations about this update on disc. Because I only found a guy on reddit and another one on gbatemp saying that the disc has the update, but they didn't specify neither the region

Most of them ONLY work on 5.5.1.

You won't miss out on anything if you update... Everything I've seen is compatible with 5.5.1.

You will most likely miss much more by staying on 5.3.2 since I highly doubt that the devs working on IOSU exploits and Emu/RedNAND are going to backtrack to an older firmware if the latest one works just fine.

I think the IOSU hacks and emuNAND were designed for 5.5.1.

this is not the point of this post. Let's say that my 5.3.2 WiiU is at home and I'm on a trip until next week, tomorrow Nintendo releases 5.5.2, it's 100% sure that I can update to 5.5.1 with Paper Mario? for which region this is confirmed?

Right. Sorry I missed the point, I was actually replying to @Tarantus but neglected to quote his post.

Though, it's highly possible that it does include 5.5.1 update in the disc given that it has been out for so long.

Ok, so, lets say Paper Mario cant update the console to 5.5.1, would be there another way to update the console without connecting to the internet? Im afraid to do it and download a newer update.

I'm afraid not. Unfortunately, right now, you can only use a game disc or through the system update option on the console which will always download the newest version.

You won't if you do it right, you should do it either way though, because the newest IOSU tools ONLY work on 5.5.1

When you say "if you do it right", you are talking about updating through the internet? Is there a "right" way to update to 5.5.1 without getting a newer update? I'm kinda confused with this assumption, since my knowledge helped me block nintendo addressess to going into my network (using router's firewall), but I can't think about a way to update to a "mid version" without getting the latest one (except on cases where you can download the intended update version and apply it "offline").

Nintendo confirm that 5.5.1 is the latest update here:

https://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/system-update/

Therefore its all you can update to.

Remove the update blocks, let it do its thing and then put them back in and you'll have the correct firmware. Either that or you could wait and take your chances with the Paper Mario update disc (which hasn't really been confirmed outside of Australia) as given the way the IOSU element is looking they will be creating a new update for sure once its released.

For the love of all things holy just update to 5.5.1 already. Do it online while you still can. How many threads need to be created before 5.3.2 users get this?

@replicashooter tnx for the confirm. Now I just need to be sure that I can update to 5.5.1 without messing my "modded" vWii.

again, not the point of this post. Another example: One month later I buy one WiiU with 5.4.0 firmware and the latest firmware is not 5.5.1 anymore, Paper Mario (EUR, USA, JAP) is good to update?
This is the point of the thread, not "update to 5.5.1 what are you waiting for"

We get it Sir. Sorry to mess with your post to ask my questions. As stated by other, seems like no one is sure about Paper Mario having a update do 5.5.1 inside de disc. Lets wait to see if anyone will confirm this.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
