Switch was announced something something not Wii anymore. Considering that the new console does not have the double i name scheme anymore do you think that Miis will still be used as the theme for avatars? They've become somewhat iconic. Another thing I wonder about is Miiverse. Surely the Switch will have some sort of social network similar to Miiverse, but I doubt it will be one and the same.

What do you guys think? Should they follow a similar scheme as the Wii(U) or make something entirely from scratch?

I think maybe make a new Mii you could say, you could decorate clothes and you would have a shit ton of avatar options like alien eyes, tons of skin colours. Maybe it could be called "Myvatar" or something like that. And for the social media it could link with the button no one knows what it's about, it doesn't have a Miiverse icon so...

I think they'd still keep the Mii name even if they added even more customization options.

Also not a huge fan of Miis, but I'm sure they'll stick around to some effect. Miitomo's relatively new, so I don't think they'll be killing them off.
Not to mention, I'm certain "Super Smash Bros for Switch" will be coming out soon and will likely also still feature Miis.

Smash 4 Switch was confirmed?

If they are keeping the Miis, they are most likely keeping the name Miiverse. Although, Switchverse sounds kind of neat too.
I hope they nuke MiiVerse in favor of a similar service which isn't protected to the point where only small children could enjoy it, or have two sides to MiiVerse, one which can be accessed by those under 13 (or whatever the age you're allowed to legally sign up for shit online without your parent's permission in the country a user resides in) and another which can only be accessed by those 13 and above, which is less strict with word filters and the like.
I doubt this would happen, though. It's really just wishful thinking.

If Nintendo wants to escape their current image (I.E., stop looking so kiddie), they need to ditch silly things like Miis (and sever their ties with the Wii, but that's already happening). I liked Miis initially, but got tired of them early on. I wasn't pleased when I learned they'd be featured on the Wii U (wasn't exactly surprised, though). If I'm forced to use them on the Switch, that may end up being a deal breaker.

Really? Nintendo using Miis would make you not wanna buy a Switch? I'm sorry, but that's really stupid. Miis shouldn't really effect your overall experience with the console, it's such a minor thing.

It's not a minor thing to me, especially if I'm forced to use them. Those damn things are so annoying...and I really have a hard time seeing myself enjoy yet another console (including the 3ds) that shoves Miis down my throat.

Keep the Miis but update their functionality. They're pretty much Nintendo's thing at this point and they're harmless distractions at worst. Right now though, I'm more curious about their plans for network infrastructure than user avatars.
Do we know anything about what DeNA did with online infrastructure in the past? I think that was supposed to be part of the reason for Nintendo's partnership with them.
