ROM Hack So there's four levels of brick ?

I juste want know.

• Soft-Brick : Recoverable with L + R +A + Up. (ex : freeze in downgrade)
• Hard-Brick : Recoverable with arm9loaderhax or hardmod. (ex : sleep mode in 2.1.0 New 3DS)
• Uncoverable brick : Uncoverable. (ex : OTPLess method bug, use wrong OTP, etc...)
• MCU Brick : Really uncoverable. (ex : modify LED light of 3DS with invalid combinaison)

That's all ?

A flash brick. Either you damaged your flash files physically or through software. When you damage the flash NOTHING works not even recovery. You could even say there are 4 stages of flash bricking and so on.

If I were you worry about the 4 you listed only. If you get 1 of them try to simplify it to whatever brick you actually got. It will save you the time of researching now.

I remember seeing that MCU brick could be recoverable if you had an nonscreen-init A9LH(something like that, i dont remember sure)

While the terms you've used are the ones used all over the forums, I think we should re-define them, to something like...

• Soft-Brick - Bricked through software
  • Franken-firmware brick fixable with recovery mode
  • Non-recoverable blackscreen
  • Blue-screen brick (also non-recoverable)
• Hard-Brick - Hardware is damaged
  • Error during hard mod
  • MCU brick
  • NAND flash burnout

Would just like to mention that the MCU brick with invalid LED data only happens on firmwares 8.x and lower.

Actually, if internet is enabled, recovery mode lets you set up a connection, and if you have the internet disabled on the device, you can turn it back on by removing the battery and reinserting it.

Wrong OTP can be fixed with a hardmod if you have a NAND backup.

OTPless brick can probably be fixed the same way, though I'm not positive.
