Hacking Problems unzipping PSP ISO files on my Mac (to be used on PSP 1000)

I hacked my PSP 1000 to CFW 6.60-C Pro or whatever. Downloaded several ISO files from a well known ROM/ISO site. The file come in zipped up. I use OSX.

When I unzip the file, there are no .iso files, but rather 12-20+ other zipped up files in the new folder.

I've read a lot of things about how to get ISO files usable for PSP, and they seem to involve unzipping these files so that all of the zipped up files inside the original zip file are unpacked together or whatever into one .ISO file, which can then be moved to the ISO folder that I made on my PSP memory card.

How do you do this on Mac? I've done a lot of research and can't see how to do it.

Also, my PSP can detect my wifi router, but whenever I test the connection, it says it can't connect. Using whatever router Xfinity gives you. Any advice on that?

Finally, my PSP has a 1gb memory card, I ordered a 64gb micro sd card and a memory stick duo adapter for it. Can I just drag and drop the contents of my old memory card onto the new one, and everything will function the same?

Ok, so when I download the zip file from the ISO website, do I just unzip it? None of the resulting zipped up files in the unzipped folders are isos.

Maybe the iso files you're downloading aren't zipped, and you're extracting all the contents inside...

Maybe. Are ISO files supposed to be zipped when they are loaded onto a PSP? I can't remember the file extension name on the files I'm downloading, but it's not .iso

for example if my windows computer has no nero/alcohol or another img burn program it would recognize .iso/.cso as a winrar folder, which it isn't.

try enabling that, if the file is called khbbs.iso then try putting it on the psp as it is, if it works then you're extracting the iso itself.

the psp can use several file formats;

.pbp for games that go in the psp/game/ folder like most homebrew and psp official update files

.dax/iso/cso for img loading through the ISO loader of the CFW

.prx for plugins

Can't remember any other besides the usual .mp3, .mp4, .png, but i don't need to explain these, do i?

Ok, what do I do on a mac once I download the zip folder from the iso website? Like step by step, on a mac. Assume just using the standard zip program that comes on OSX.

No clue, I've never used a Mac since OS X Tiger. You might want to find a normal computer to do this on, or see if Mac has WinZip or whatever.

Hm, maybe it's a .rar that has several .r00-r.24 (depending on parts) files inside them...
Can you try to extract the 20-something parts that come out of the file? what are their filenames? are they folders with weird names or the same name of the thing you extracted them from?

Is the folder that I need to put on my PSP the .iso file I see in step 4? Again, all I did was select the first file at the top in Step 3, extra it, and it gave me that .iso. I did not do anything to extract all of them together like I see in youtube videos about this.

Yes, the .iso file is the one that goes in the iso folder of the PSP. You should stop at step 4 and use that file.

Just so I'm clear on this - you can just select any one (1) of the dozens of zip folders from step 3, unzip it, and just stick the resulting .iso zip file onto your PSP to get these to work? Completely ignoring all of the other ones?

Another question - can I rename the .iso files as long as I keep the .iso extension at the end?

Same question with the PS1 eboot files - the eboot files I've seen don't have the name of the game in the file name. Can I alter it myself?

You can edit the name of the iso, as long as you keep the .iso at the end. and yes, all parts .r00-.r24 are interchangeable but extract the .r00 just to make sure.

and about the ps1 eboots, you can create a folder to contain them (they have to follow this format) psp/game/bugsbunny/EBOOT.PBP but some games, specially psn ones don't like to have the folder renamed, they show up as corrupted data. so, only rename the FOLDERS of the psx-psp games, and keep the psn ones with their game ID, make a .txt file or something on the folder indicating what each ID means in case you forget later on.

one more question, and you guys have been great. I have a much larger micro sd card on the way, and a memory stick duo adapter for it. Please tell me the steps I should take when I transfer everything over. Do I first format the card to FAT32 or whatever on my computer?

Then can I just copy all of the folders on my current memory stick onto the new card, then just put it into my PSP, and everything (including CFW) will work fine? Thanks!

and one more question - I currently have a 1 gb Memory Stick in my PSP, been experimenting with running ISOs and EBOOTs, and today I experimented with Deadelus64 and Monkey64. My memory was almost full when I tried to install Monkey64, so I deleted Deadelus and the various roms. But no space freed up on my memory card, it was as if the files were still there.

Can I format my memory card without messing up the CFW stuff already on it? i.e. delete just the games to free up space, without affecting my PSP's CFW stuff?

I would get the new card, let the PSP format it, and then copy the files over from the old card using a computer.

in case you didn't got it yet, that first file (1.1 gb) in the picture is the actual iso file....
come on it says in the right: ISO FILE (off screen)
and the file ends with ".iso"
you can delete all the other parts... you got the iso, so you don't need them anymore


the structure is something like this:

first ZIP-> folder with several zips files -> loads of zip files with the iso inside (and in the end the iso is actually another container with
if you see any normal files like a .png picture that means you unzipped to far...

or if you want a more cooler explanation:
first there is this dumpster...
it has loads of bags inside (trash in parts)...
you need to move all the bags to a place, where you can open all of them together so you can have a big pile of trash


it's just lazy uploaders, they download the several parts from other websites, and instead of extracting the iso and create a new zip with that iso, they just put all the ziped files togueter in a single zip....
