Hi,

So I recently helped downgrade, install arm9loader, update to luma and then to the latest firmware. I didn't realize games from different regions won't work online if the region of the system is different (mystery gift in pokemon oras usa cart). I want to change the region, but I've already updated to latest firmware on the japanese luma 3ds. how should I proceed? do I have to downgrade back to 9.2J, and if so how? preferably, if possible I'd like to change regions without downgrading again. I don't have an emunand as I directly went to arm9loader from 9.2J then updated. I was also wondering if I can link an existing north american NNID to the japanese 3ds once region changed. I'm not sure if it has ever connected to eshop before. Not being able to access the eshop wouldn't be a big deal, but having the NNID is important.

Thanks.

You can make a emuNAND with Emunand9 and follow @Plailect guide to region-change. (It's still a downgrade, no way to get out of that, but the process is much easier) (only do this if you still want to keep your sysNAND on JAP)

And no, NNID's that you make are region-locked to the 3DS that you made it on, so you can't link your NA NNID to the JAP 3DS.

even if I region change the japanese 3ds, I won't be able to do a system transfer from another north american 3ds to the region changed japanese new 3ds?

plailect's guide is CTR Transferring to 9.2X. there's no need for an emunand unless he wants to have a japanese sysNAND and usa emuNAND. (which has no purpose aside from japanese exclusive eshop games)
just CTR and system transfer. pretty sure no permanent eshop access tho

You can system transfer, sure, but I'm pretty sure the NNID won't make it over, but there's a way to do it, but it's a very long process and not worth it in the end (it's not even recommended to do it)

That's why I said "only do this if you still want to keep your sysNAND on JAP" jeez

mystery gift works fine for me EU cart on JP new 3DS. you just need to enable region spoof in Luma to EU for your game. (this can be used to recieve any region online mystery gift on any game)

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
