When Safea9lhinstaller isn't actually safe.
this method is still too new to be included in the guide. it needs more testers. 2 3DSes already bricked now.

Shortcuts always fuck you in the end. I wouldn't risk it. I know it's still brand-new, so, yeah, for now, I wouldn't even bother. Until it's been extensively tested, don't use OTP-less.

Yet. :)

I'd have to agree with mashers and The Real Jdbye. For the N3DS, the 2.1 downgrade was/is unsafe. The OTPless method, while not tested as thoroughly, should be/is much safer, especially since it now checks SD cards. I took the plunge early on when A9LH was new and the entire time I had an adrenaline rush as I knew at anytime while getting the 2.1 nand prepared, something could go wrong. Do I think that OTPless should be a part of the guide for N3DS, yes absolutely. Should the it be optional, maybe but that's if Plailect chooses to do so. On the complete flip side, at the very beginning of the guide there is a warning that modifying your console comes with risks unless you follow directions exactly as written. It may not be your fault that your console no longer works, but you were warned that this is a risky process.

2 whole 3DS systems out of how many thousands? Even if only 1000 people performed this, there's only a 0.2% probability of the 3DS bricking at all.
and also, compare that to the bricks we've had with the 2.1 downgrade, especially in the early days. if i didnt have a hardmod, i would have added a 2ds and 2 o3dsxl's to that. and those have less of a chance of brick compared to the n3ds.

also, hardmods are great.

lets not forget all the bricks that happened when the 10.3 to 9.2 downgrade first came out

I used it and no problems at all. If you follow the guide correctly I doubt that you will brick the console.
