Hacking Need Help! After Completion of Plailect guide I system formatted to remove NNID

I was trying to delete my NNID off of the console after doing the downgrade exploit from 11.1 by system transferring and then following the guide to completion. At first, after I had formatted, Hourglass9 was allowing me to restore the sysNAND, but I had no FBI or Homebrew channel. Now, Hourglass does not recognize any of my sysNAND backups. In system settings, my console shows version "Sys 11.1.0-34U". I am wondering if I need to restart the guide from the very beginning? Did I format everything I had previously done to downgrade the software and complete the guide?

If you have a9hl installed you don't need to redo anything. What happens when you try to restore with Hourglass9?

You could try different versions of Hourglass9. Maybe you got a buggy build or something? Also make sure there are no weird characters in the backup filepath.

if you can access hourglass9 after formatting, just reinject FBI to H&S app and start from there.. i dont think you'd have to redo everything..and check on system settings if it says sys11.1.0.34U then you're good you didnt lose the hack..once that's done, just make a new nand backup while you still don't have NNID attached to it..

Thanks for the advice! I am not sure why this worked, but when I replaced the sysNAND backup in the root folder vs the files9 folder, it recognized it again! I restored the sysNAND and I got access to all of my homebrew apps again. However, one issue still remains: that when I go into my NNID settings to see if my account was unlinked, it gives me error code 022-2634. Is this because I have DSWare still on my console from my previously linked NNID?

If you remove your NNID then restore a backup that thinks it's still linked to an NNID you'll have problems with all online services that require you to log into an NNID. Not sure if it's related to that, but something to keep in mind.

Here's what I just did to solve almost the exact same issue:
1) Keep a backup of your NAND with linked NNID & the Nintendo 3DS folder on your PC
2) Go to system settings and perform a system format
3) Go through the steps to set up the system
4) Go to system settings -> nintendo id -> link existing ID (re-link your nintendo ID)
5) Shut down system
6) Copy nand backup (which was already linked to NNID) to /files9 & nintendo 3ds folder from step 1 to root of sdcard
7) Restore the nand using hourglass9
8) Reboot & voila go to e-shop and it should log you back in

Basically you have to re-link the NNID as if it were a new system so nintendo servers recognize your console on their end. Then you can inject any backup with linked NNID and it will work.

Sounds like you want to completely remove the NNID so a different one can be linked. But you don't want to leave it formatted (why not? Just inject FBI and re-install any CIAs you need). If you'd like to get rid of just the NNID you can do this with FBI or GodMode9. Exact instructions coming soon as I can dig them up.

Ah I misunderstood then. Can't he just restore his nand backup and inject a blank nnidsave.bin? he would lose all games and saves tho

Basically, yes. Maybe OP should tell us what they're trying to accomplish because it sounds like they used a 3DS to do the DSiWare downgrade on another and now needs the old 3DS's info removed from that newly hacked 3DS so it can be setup as its own 3DS

Although my console is functional again, it still has my NNID on it. Is the best way to get the result I am looking for to format the system, then reinstall FBI and the CIA files?

You can inject a blank nnidsave.bin (I think that's what it's called) but that will cause your purchased games to no longer work and possibly other problems

5. Navigate to CTRNAND -> data -> (32 Character ID) -> sysdata -> 00010038
6. Rename the 00000000 file to something else or copy it to the SD card and then delete it.
7. Reboot console. You should now no longer be signed into your NNID.

Ah gotcha, yep makes sense. I thought you wanted to start from a clean sys.
