Hacking JP N3DSXL with A9LH SNES VC crashes

I set up a friend's Japanese N3DSXL with A9LH. Everything works great except SNES VC crashes the system.

I set up Luma according to the guide, and also checked enable region/language emulation.

On my own US N3DSXL, I don't have this problem.

Any ideas?

Your friend might have an unclean/missing file from your NAND. Have you tried updating it to the latest firmware while running your CFW? (Preferably through Luma: Gateway System Settings updating can brick A9LH systems)

I did this. It's a step in the Plailect guide.

It's all three DKCs.

I have language/region checked, and out of region 3DS games work fine.

The title for the game doesn't even appear on the top screen in the home menu.

FWIW I got all three of these from FreeShop.

That is really weird, I have all three DKCs from FreeShop and used region-language emulation and they work just fine. If I didn't have it, then they wouldn't load and just crash, so I wrote down the title ID from FreeShop and made sure the settings for each game were "US EN"

Edit: the banners also don't show up on home menu, but the games load and run just fine.

Oh, I haven't tried the locales txt file fix. That's a good idea.

Well, after creating the txt files in locales, DKC3 now works, but DKC1 and 2 still crash.

I should note that in FBI titles listing, DKC1 and 2 are both region free, but DKC3 is not.

Also, since setting up A9LH, Luigi's Mansion is in Japanese despite there being a locales txt file to make it English, and previously when the system was set up with MenuHax/EmuNAND, the locales txt file worked to force Luigi's Mansion in English.

Edit: I even tried forcing DKC1 and 2 into Japanese region/language, and it still crashes the system.

What's going on here? Any ideas?

Not really sure, all three DKCs games work just fine on my system with their respective titleID TXTs with the "US EN" setting, so I would probably suggest deleting and downloading them again. What version of Luma are you using? Updating Luma might fix it. I'm still on 11.0.0-33J (in case that helps). Post your titleID txts for DKC1 and DKC2 since the title ID could be wrong. I had to manually write the title ID down from freeShop since I couldn't find the title IDs online.

I had a problem like this, I uninstalled the CIAs, rebooted, then installed them again and they worked. If that doesn't work, remove them and try the VC injects from the ISO site.
