How can I get around this dreadful update nag? I'm scared that one day I'll accidentally hit the A button and screw myself over.

I knew about this before but I was hoping for a more permanent solution or at least some ideas on what to do.
If I do delete the update, then every time I put my 3DS on sleep mode I run the risk of it downloading the update in the background(srsly Nintendo?!). Always turning it off is also a hassle and not fun at all. I can't change DNS servers on my router and besides I'll be accessing multiple home networks.
I think I remember reading about a way to intentionally corrupt the downloaded file by cutting WLAN while it's downloading, but I have no idea if this will work.
Was kinda hoping for a neat Homebrew App...
No way to have my cake and eat it too, is there? I was hoping I could leave my Wifi on all the time.
Would this interfere with game updates, accessing the shop or even running some HB apps that need internet access?
Game updates? Probably.
Accessing the shop? For sure.
Not HB apps though, or the browser. It blocks Nintendo servers (and YouTube I believe).
So it isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing :/. I use it on my WiiU.
