Digimon World: Next Order is getting a localization in 2017

The Digimon series has had a rocky history when it comes to its games getting English translations. But it looks like times have changed, as Bandai Namco has announced that Digimon World: Next Order will be making its way west early 2017, as a digital only title for PS4. According to the company, the localization petition for Digimon Cyber Sleuth, and its later success in western sales is what made Next Order's translation possible.

Should note that the Western release appears to be a new PS4 port rather than a Vita localization. At least with Cyber Sleuth they kept the original Vita version - the thing fans were asking for with the petition in the first place.

"the localization petition for Digimon Cyber Sleuth" except that the petition was original for Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode, hence called "Operation Decode". The fans originally wanted Decode, not CS actually....

Ah! My bad. Thanks for the heads up. I knew there was a big petition, but I don't know a single thing about the series.

Digimon's still a thing?
Apparently. It's got a huge cult following from what I've seen.

Whoop. Could have sworn I added in PS4 somewhere in there. Added.

I liked cyber sleuth alot so I'll be getting this but I'm very disappointed that its digital only.
It's sad, but it seems digital-only has become a great way to get niche stuff to the west.

Before people will cry about the Vita version not being localized, trust me, the vita version is a mess.
Low res textures, poor framerate, bugs everywhere. Trust me you don't want that version.
