I ask this since I have a Pokémon X cart I bought on release day. I has always served me well, until a coulple days ago. I saved the game, and when I restarted the console and get onto it again, it said the data was corrupted. No issue, as I have plenty of backups.

What's bugging me is that now when I restore the save, or create a new file and save, etc, the game corrupts all the time. The pins are clear, I tried different consoles, one without any update patches, nothing works. It always corrupt. So I guess the NAND partition used to save in the cart is done? I thought these type of memory could last many years even with strong usage.

Have you used PowerSaves with it?

Nope. I have used NTR CFW and JKSM with it though.

I've also realized something. The save data gets corrupted whenever I turn off the console or take the cart out. If I save, exit the game but keep the console on or put it in sleep mode, I can open the game later and it loads fine. It's like the chip in the cart can't hold the data without constant electricity.

it seems that games that use Card2 save system are actually fragile, a friend of mine had a pokémon x/y cartridge die with save corrupt prompt, not even resetting the save made it operational.
And she hadn't used any save manager ever on it (she didn't had access to hacked 3DS, didn't know about powersaves or save dongles until I've asked if she used any of those), only normal playthroughs.
Probably Card1 games are more reliable, I have cards from the time that the standard DS was launched and they save/load fine.

That's what I'm thinking. I think the partition used to save the game just broke.

This issue shouldn't be so common using a digital version, as it obviously does not depend from an internal chip in any cart, it writes to the SD. I'll try getting my own dump with Decrypt9 and restoring my save data.

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing
