Howdy, so I removed the mii channel via any title deleter on my vwii menu. I am now getting a pop up when I enter wii mode and I think I need to have that channel installed to get it to clear. Is it safe, or even possible, to reinstall it to the vwii nand?

If you have a backup of the WAD file and can access the Homebrew Channel, you should be able to re-install it (using any WAD installer, really).

I'm very very curious! What is the pop up you are receiving? Photo?

I think I'm mixing up acronyms. I was thinking of the tool that downloads Wii U titles and firmwares etc. Forgot the name, maybe WUP? Idk. Idk what I was saying lol.

No I didn't back it up. Guess that was kind of dumb. Here's a pic of the pop up I'm seeing every time I launch wii mode.

So the vWii is fully functional after clicking ok? So long as you can launch homebrew, you should be able to reinstall the channel. You'll need to get a backup from someone or do what Chakratos said assuming someone confirms that is safe to do. @Cyan @Kafluke, does this sound about right? Do you know if the newest version of Mii Channel is on NUS and safe to install?

Yep. Fully functional if I hit ok. No idea what triggered it. Are the mii channel on the wii u and vwii one in the same? If I can't verify it's safe to do I won't even bother. It's a very minor inconvenience.

I don't know if the system channels are as picky as IOS about being "clean dump".
If you reinstall an IOS on vWii but it's not correctly signed (fake tik, fake sign, etc.) it works but you'll have issues (homebrew channel installation error, and the WiiU mode will be unable to update the console).

So, you could try to install someone else's channel, be sure it's dumped with bluedump mod.
I don't know if "real signed" channel will be able to be reinstalled on your console, but if IOS can be shared I guess it can work.

I have HACA v6 real sign if you want to try.
I think at worst you won't be able to launch it, but the vWii should be able to read the data.

That's only supposition, I never tried to delete/reinstall mii channel.
What could be tested is installing it on Sneek !

For example, dump your vWii NAND, use it with Sneek.
on sneek, reinstall that wad and see if you can launch Mii channel on Sneek.

The real signed channel is a no-go.

Hopefully you backed it up if not I can lend mine

Care to lend it? I'd greatly appreciate it.

that will be the same if he real-signed it.
We can try to dump and fake-sign it, but like I said I don't know the impact as fake-signed IOS created issues on WiiU side.

Just wanted to give some closure on this. I did some digging and shot JoostineOnline a question...he advised I install cIOS236 and it should allow me to install the .WAD I obtained via blue dump from my old Wii. And it worked! Message cleared. Thanks all.

Not only that but as the Mii Channel is Nintendo copyrighted material it's against site rules to ask for it and against site rules for anyone to post links for it or to send it by pm lol.
True. It's alright to ask where to get it though (as long as it's getable through legit sources like NUS).

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
