I used to flash Xbox 360 hard drives and burn games for people. Charged an arm and a leg too for the service but nowhere near what the games would cost legit.

First, you've completely ruined your entire story. The second that sign would have been put up, they would have been shutdown. There is no way in hell a store would have gotten away with advertising that kind of stuff without gaining legal attention.
And if you were running Mario World on a PS2 as a demo, the store would have been shutdown because like I just said, there's no way something like that would have not gained legal attention. And worst of all, you claim to have told them that it was hacked. There's nothing even remotely believable about your story.
And what would you gain? IDK. I guess 5 minutes of fame? I mean, your post got my attention, even if it was to call it bullshit.
I guess haters gonna hate. The shop was a bit shady. They took in stolen trade ins knowing it was stolen but knew it was untraceable. U cant prove from a disc a serial number. Like i said i really have nothing to prove, its not like im trying to gain rep or cool points. I just wanted to share a bit of my history. The shop owners were opportunists. Any way they can make a buck they would. In their eyes people can easily take the time to do a google search for guides on how to mod a console or pirate games. But some people would be too lazy or computer ileratae. It actually was profitable. Think about it they could sell backups. The make money on someone whos too stupid or afraid to pirate. So they sell 1 disc game more than once. They can keep the disc until someone buys it but profit off it multiple times. Like i said and ill say it again i really have nothing to gain by a lie. I dont care if people think im cool i am not swinging my epenis asking for ecookies. Belive me or not i had my fun making money. The shop closed mostly due to the owner paying his piling legal bills with the stores profits and feeding his drug habbits. Im not mad if u dont belive me. I got the memories of doing something that was a once in a lifetime expeirance

Wouldn't it be in the shop's best interest to make people buy games (that is, not selling devices that make piracy very easy)? Or did they just offer the mods to allow "homebrew"?

The guides i made for the ps2 memcards were just to know how to load emulators and homebrew and dump a legit disc and run it. I didnt give links to shit like ps2iso or torrents

Expect they would have been shutdown for copyright infringement. There is no way a person with a history of drugs and DUIs would have been able to maintain a store like this without drawing legal attention. Police would have been monitoring the shit out of his store to ensure it was operating legally. The second a back up was sold, they would have dragged him in for copyright infringement.

It doesnt work like that. Drug inforcement isnt going to give a shit about copyright infringment. Dude wasnt arrested for intent to sell drugs. And its not illegal to modify a console. It just breaks a warranty which voids anyway being that they are second hand used/refurbished (witch breaks the warranty seal when opening a system) There wasnt a sign that said "we sell backups and emulators" it said ask about console modding which was purposly vague. It could be interpted as anything really. Shell mods like clear plastic shells. Controller mods like rapid fire buttons. We knew the gray area that we used to our advantage. The fmcb memory cards and thumb drives were just labled as modded. Yes the instructions were to run emulators dump discs, burn a disc, and The file paths to load roms (which we sold as rompacks we just took the top 50 nes/snes/sega gen games and sold those as a pack for $25.) there is this thing called plausable deniability. We could just say we bought the memcards used premodded. And as u say he couldnt run a buisness. The store profits were being used to pay for fines. Not back into the buisness. He leaches himself to death. Contrary to popular beleif id estimate 95% of consumers dont no or dont care about piracy. Its not like we had some sign over the used games saying dont by me' pirate me. Pull your head out your ass bruh

im considering making a website and offering local mods/hacks/jailbreaks as well - the hardest part is support though

but on the other hand the support is also $$ - i do the mod, give them some instructions and if you need more help, well that is gonna be $10 more dollars for a support session.

i need people to answer phones/reply to emails though and that is the hard part.

Actually, yes it is illegal to hack a system and sell it for profit.
But honestly at this point it's obvious that you are going to keep up with your story.

Ya cause everyone calls the cops if they hear somebody is modding consoles. Rarely are cops called when people are publicly doing drugs or acting intoxicated as well so why would the store be called up on that within weeks like you seem to think?

I know a store just down the road where I live that mods systems openly from his home and even has a site called sudburymods.com so in short i believe the story because it sounds believable. just because something illegal is happening openly in a public place does not mean it's gonna get raided.

At least you brought some creditable evidence to your story. And there's a difference here. This guy is claiming they sold game backups and hacked systems from a store. Your dude just does it from his home, not from his actual store.
And searching his store for illegal products, such as drugs being stored in his store, is a perfectly valid reason to search the store and watch the store.
I agree 100% with @th3joker and really is no point in calling him a liar or an attention seeker. It's a good story either real or fake.

@Crystal the Glaceon

Someone has to bring skepticism to a story when things just don't make sense. I have no reason to believe his story and I have brought up extremely valid reasons to not believe his story.

Just because I cast doubt, doesn't mean I am being a jerk. Just because I point out flaws in a story, doesn't make me a jerk. Just because people don't like what I am saying, doesn't make me a jerk.

Finally: You are flat lying for attention.
Calling someone a liar and attention seeker isn't the nicest thing to post... and so what if he is? Does it really matter to you if it's a lie or not? It's not like he's spreading false information, pretending to find a 3DS 11.0 kexploit or acting like a dev when he's not. Don't just bash because you THINK the OP is a liar...

I'd also like to add that I don't think your a jerk at all but this is quite different than most of the posts that I've read of yours in the past.

Why would i need to lie about this? Look up game world of las vegas. They have the site still up i think. And if u look up their google reviews ull see they have gone to shit, owners names were steve and chris. Steve was the cokehead. What would i have to gain from making up a story? I just felt like sharing a bit of my past and letting some people know i may be new here but im a long time scener.
I was talking about the cutting thing.

This store never sold new consoles or games. It was all used/refurbished stuff. If it was new it was traded in as new. Yes we sold some refurbished systems that i modded and the charged $5-10 per game installed. There wasnt alot of people who got installed games but we sold quite a few modded systems. They would take in broken systems for $5-10 and fix them and flip those. This shop lived off their trade ins becuase they would offer more than gamestop for credit or cash. They bought out the inventory of other games shops that closed for pennies it was funny and sad.
yes, and even a used game stor that wants to sell its used stock needs people that dont get free games.

No, nobody cares about people's personal lives posted on Twitter and what you had for lunch.
Nobody but stupid people care.
This topic here is just another example of people living their lives online.
Luckily I dont tweet or instagram or facebook or snapchat or tumbler or any of that faggy crap. I do fucking hate the idea of people who feel the need to post pics of the food they ate or their current mood or that they went somewere. Likes whores. But I understand why people do it, some are insecure, some need approval of others, some do it because they like to feel connected ect. Then I know there are just negitive people who hate there life and feel the need to troll or be a dick, cuz it brings twisted enjoyment. I like to troll the trolls. So I only posted my unique history as I felt it as a way to let people know a bit of history. It seems relavent due to the theme of this forum. I dont care if people believe me. I dont NEED the approval of a bunch of whiney cheap fuck wannabe haXor kiddies.

The goal of working in a used game store is to sell games.
By hacking consoles, you won't sell any games.

OP, you're full of shit.
Judging from your previous posting behaviour and your avatars...
I hardly doubt you're serious as well.

Not to mention this.
ok fine dont ask me anything i dont care *starts cutting self*

You're clearly just crying for attention.
Take it to the EoF then.
