i am having a hard time following Plailect guide about installing A9LH. Is the Gateway A9LH the same as normal one and if so can i use the Gateway guide to install A9LH and. Switch to Luma 3ds cfw and another thing can a ds game be launched from the home menu on a CFW or do you still have to use a r4i card to play ds games.

a9lh is a waste of time to be honest. its not at all needed. just do regular gateway and use ctrboot manager and menu/lesshax to autoboot.

A waste of 40min to have complete control over your console and make it invincible? Wow, your time must be incredibly valuable, lol!

40mins? How? That guide can takes hours depending on your current setup, days if anything goes wrong (faulty SD card) from my experiences (3 devices). I haven't gotten around to doing it on one of my devices because it is just such a process.

Anyways I do agree a9lh is awesome. The Gateway version offers no FIRM protection (...why?), so the community version is much better. If you just have the one console, do it. It's definitely worth it.

Edit: The guide looks shorter now, was it updated?

yes, about a month ago. there is no reason not to do the guide now, and even with the "hours" that it took it was worth it. most of the time you were just waiting, so you could do stuff in-between.

all u get is quick booting and brick "protection". i personally have the patience to wait an extra 5 seconds and im not a dumbass so i dont need faulty brick protection

Brick protection is good for more then just dumbasses. It is a legit way to test things on sysnand that you would otherwise need a hardmod for like installing a custom homemenu or something.

Did they boot decrypt9/hourglass9 and restore nand backup? A9LH doesn't magically unbrick your 3ds.

Trust me I've bricked countless times in sysnand and could unbrick.

Because most people don't intend on causing bootroms errors.
Don't waste your time ;-; you wont get him convinced. His logic is that if it cant unbrick everything then its not worth it.

Just wait for a good hack needs the A9LH or something, then you will see him joining the A9LH Master Race :3

A9LH can't recover from all bricks. Just most common bricks. A hardmod is still recommend if your doing some very important tests

TBH, Menuhax is way worse than A9LH. What would happen if you accidentally update sysNAND? What would happen if the new update comes out, you update but then can't boot cause of the Gateway file being outdated? With A9LH you can reflash your sysNAND without the risk of losing the hacks, or download a fixed hack that could be able to boot the new update. If something happens to sysNAND. What would you do huh?

A9LH helps a lot, more than just "unbricking" or "turns on a bit faster"

I'm not going to waste my time anymore, k thx

many of the problems stated can be solved by simply not being retarted. so in my book, not legitimate

Retards aren't the only people who brick 3dses. Devs do it all the time. Also you just earned the first slot of my ignore list

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
