Thinking of buying one and would like to know if there are any cons I haven't thought of (Apart from region locking lol)
And it's in english too?i got lucky and bought a old 3ds from a pawnshop with a really low firmware for 30 buck , odd thing it was a japanese 3ds.
so i got A9lh install on it thank to the guide set up by plailect, then fellow the region changing guide by said person and so far it like having a normal usa 3ds

yes sirAnd it's in english too?
Region swapping for japanese 3DS is nice, but since you can't open eshop, that's a little disappointing. Not that it matters for some people.yes sir

Edit: Dammit.
Well, they could make it work. But just as you say, it is tedious. Better stick to the US or EU, unless you understand Japanese, or you're a native from Japan.the guide also explain how to get eshop working even tho it a little complicated for N3ds
This is new for me. Editing home menu sounds brick prone to me.If you don't want to region swap the whole system, you can just edit the home menu files to make the home menu English. That way, you still keep access to the Japanese eShop.
You can.You can't switch it to English.
Nope. It works perfectly fine without one. Most English credit cards are fine too.You would need to have a Japanese address for eshop
Yeah, you can brick if you don't know what you're doing, but it's pretty simple if you follow a guide and know what you're doing. Similar to the A9LH install process I guess. I edited my sleep screen and imported it back without issue, it isn't too hard ^^Well, they could make it work. But just as you say, it is tedious. This is wrong. I have a Japanese system, it doesn't ask for your address, and accepts UK Debit Cards without issue. I'd expect US cards to work too.You would need to have a Japanese address for eshop
Well a US new 3ds (the small one) is expensive and hard to find. Plus I want one with a firmware around 9.0-9.2 and the black new 3ds is just what I want lolYou can.

Unless you specifically want to play Japanese cards, there's really no reason to have a Japanese 3DS.
Seemed to work with mine. But I assume that's due to region patching.Wait, would freeshop work with us games?
I hope that's right because Freeshop is super useful although I could live without it. Do you have A9HL or menuhax? I'm planning on putting A9HL on mine once I get it. How exactly does region patching work?Seemed to work with mine. But I assume that's due to region patching.
You know what? I will just do a quick check to see that I'm not making stuff up.I hope that's right because Freeshop is super useful although I could live without it. Do you have A9HL or menuhax? I'm planning to put A9HL mine once I get it. How exactly does region patching work?
