okay so, I've been waiting a long time for TradukoSoft to give SOME Kind of update on their Translation for Conception 1, and, let's face it, I've grown impatient. Basically, I want to Decrypt the game and translate it myself, don't give a damn how long it takes or how hard it is. I don't care if I just throw the text into google translate for God's sake. I won't be posting the translation (unless there are a shit ton of requests for me to do so) it's just gonna be my personal patch. so can anyone help me figure out what to do? and please DON'T say "Conception 2 is same thing" or anything along those lines, it's not. it's like comparing Majin Tensei to Zelda. or GTA to Frogger. seriously, it's a flimsy excuse and I'm tired of it. thanks in advance.

First, get UMDGEN and to look at contents of the iso, then try to find where strings are stored. They might be stored in large files where decompression might be required. Just share your findings and hope people can help you.

you already got help, so good i guess.

but why do you think the region matters?
It's a force of habit of mine to include every possible detail when asking for help, regardless of how trivial it might end up being.

Thanks, will use it if I can. Never done this before, so please be patient with me.
EDIT: That Script appears to be for extracting models, so my question to you is, can you give me a bit more details on why I'd need to extract the models, and how that pertains to translating the text? Thanks.

Thank you kindly, Will do. Again, I only ask to please be patient with me, Never done this before.

A guy on YouTube translated the first hour:

Usually big files like this have all game assets including the text.

I'm aware of this, but (A) can't find his patch online anywhere, so I cant finish that, and (B) can't find ANY patch online anywhere, so that doesn't really help me either.

There's no patch, that will be up to you. Good luck!

Just do it and don't worry about it so much.
1) Download QuickBMS
2) Download BMS script
3) Extract file
4) Run QuickBMS
Then you'll need to run a text searcher like MadEdit to attempt to find the text

AHA! I see. I've got the entire ISO extracting now in UMDGEN, will do as you suggested now.
EDIT: can't seem to find a script for this. I downloaded ALL the scripts from http://aluigi.altervista.org/quickbms.htm but can't seem to figure out what to do with the script from http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?p=106829&sid=31d2e633e88f6f0f72f00d8d7f8599d9#p106829 because there's no download link that I can see, and I've no idea how to make my own scripts.
EDIT#2 Never mind, figured out I could copy paste it to a .txt and go from there. A mere 2 hours of sleep per week is a killer to brain cells, apparently.

EDIT#3 Extracting the Gamedata.cfi now. hoping all goes well. thanks for the help and for the patience!

Open a text file (you know, blank). Call it whatever you like, my suggestion is Conception.BMS
Copy the text from the post on Xentax into this file and save it.
It's now your BMS script, open it and your data file in BMS.

yeah, I figured that out. when bms asked me what script I wanted to use I saw that is supported a .txt as a file type and have the script running now.

For now, All I've been able to surmise it that a .orb file is related to Models/Graphics in some way. I think. Don't suppose anyone already knows where the text is and just feels like telling me to make it easier? anyway, I /WILL/ get this done. probably gonna be a while, just to find the text. consequently, anyone know how to "search" for the text in madedit? cuz I'm just sitting here scrolling through files.

Obviously that's never going to work.

Use wxMEDIT instead, I guess that's a MadEdit successor. MadEdit will work too.

CTRL+SHIFT+F to open this dialog
The real name of this function is "find in files"

Put in what you want to search for and pick either SHIFT-JIS or UTF-8 for the encoding.
And put the folder where your extracted files are where it says "Selected Directory"

Sometimes you see others like UTF-16LE and other times it's obfuscated or compressed, so you won't find it at all.
For PSP, I find that: SHIFT-JIS is most common, then UTF-8. I've only seen one game with UTF-16LE.

Hex searching is faster.
1) Select your encoding from the view menu
2) Type your Japanese
3) Select your text and R-click: advanced -> copy as hex string
4) Go to the find in files box, paste, and choose "find hex string" option

------------------------
Anyone know if there's a utility like UNIX's grep on Windows?
