Hi all,

I have a New 3DS standard size that has shut down a few times of its own accord during playing a game, the same game being Animal Crossing as its the main game used.

I installed the CFW using plailect-guide on two DS's and this only happens to one so far but the second DS is not used as much so it may happen eventually.

Has this happened previously or does anyone have any ideas, I did use the search on this forum but did not find anything.

Thanks.

Are you keeping your finger away from the power button? Try playing with it on a table without picking it up and see if it still shuts down. I sometimes turn mine off from time to time with my little finger.
I dont think so, I would have seen the screen change ready for standbye or shutdown

OK,

So more detail, it has actually shutdown due to closing the screen. The screen was closed for a moment being less than 5 mins during playing animal crossing, then when opened up again with a blank screen and the unit was off. It has happened this way all three times it has happened.

I just followed Plailect's new and improved guide too, so I'm not one of the smart guys who can help. But in the interest of eliminating potential causes to get closer to an answer, I did think of something worth asking ...

did you do a hardmod on this 3ds to get started (to downgrade from 11.0.0)???

Are you using a stable version of Luma (not a nightly/hourly, and not dev version)?

No,

downgraded from 10.3, then installed via plailect-guide

Just used the standard one linked from the guide, not dev, not the updates

Could be an hardware fault. When the ribbon cable to the screen looses connection, the system will turn off.
Maybe the cable is just a tiny bit loose.

I cant see in ribbon on a new 3DS so it must be internal. So I would not think it was likely

Sounds like a hardware fault. My n3ds and o3ds with a9lh never had this issue.

yeah, you can't see the ribbon cable because it is inside the 3DS. It connects the
motherboard with the upper screen and is moving then you flip up the screen.
That doesn't mean that it is unlikely. It probably more likely than problems with the a9hl installation.

It's probably a hardware issue. Try taking out the battery and putting it back, might be a loose connection.

I had an o3DS XL that just suddenly started shutting down at random, especially while in sleep and being carried around. For some reason the battery's connection had become loose. I reseated the battery and stuck a small piece of paper on top of it for some added thickness before replacing the cover and it hasn't happened since.
