I figured it was related to the headers. I think they are similar to an extent, but I think Sony might be capable of checking your purchase history for your playstation account for digital purchases (of games that don't have a physical counterpart). It's not like the PS3/PS4 where you can have multiple users and play one account's game on another account and collect trophies.
(Thank you for the compliment up there by the way. <3)
Well it does sounds like there is still a bit of risk... Let's just hope everything goes like on the 3ds.

(if you have a dA, fa, twitter or tumblr account i would love if you share it with me :D)

I tried to sync my trophies 3 hours ago and got a notification to update my system.
Phew, thought I was banned. I logged in to my PSN account to the PS4 and all is well.
I got console banned on my cfw PS3 a few years ago so I got a little paranoid. Changing CIDs was a hassle.
I wonder how Zephir1991 got to sync his trophies.

Edit: solved the syncing problem. used an old offline version of HENkaku.
I think that there's a possibility that bans would be high to those spoofing with an old version of HENkaku.

I think that sync'ing trophies is a bad move. Specially when you don't own a digital game you're playing.

It must be easier for Sony to keep track of what you own digitally in your account, and your trophies.

That's why I'll remove my account from Vita to avoid further problems like a permanent ban.

I also feel like syncing trophies is a bad move, but there's the off chance that sony can't be assed to check if you've bought these games in your history before without some sort of script to do so. Only time will tell. If trophies do start getting people banned in the future, hopefully this thread will help people get informed.

Here are some error codes when you get banned, for future reference.

Oh hella. I'll add this link to the OP. I 'preciate it a bunch!

Edit: In my experience with being banned by sony (On the PS3), I was immediately emailed on my linked email address regarding my suspension, and then the following day I received a more in depth reason as to why I was banned, as well as them letting me know my console had been banned as well.

No ban yet but I've synced trophies from dumped games and played online on dumped games since Tokyo Xanadu surfaced, nothing yet. Doing it on my main account, level 13 and shitloads of games. If I'm gonna have to use a "burner" acc it defeats the purpose, cause I wanna buy my games physical and not have to bother with carts.
Will update when $onys hammer of bans strikes me.

Excuse me! If i go to the store and buy a game to play on my vita, then i legally own the game. How would sony know that? Unless there is some data that is given away when connecting online that sony doesn't detect as legit, how is playing a backup of a game with vitamin any different that having the game cart and playing the game? Sony can't know i have a game when i play it and or trophy sync it.

I buy games from playstation store and i assume sony knows i own it cause of purchase history. But how does sony know i went to store and bought a game or if i am playing a dumped back up? Unless this vitamin backup is sending some unknown information that makes them aware the game is unofficially owned, is no different than playing a cart. I find it hard to believe trophy sync with a back up game should get anyone banned. But i can be wrong. Is there some clearence in this?

I would agree if you were talking about carts, but obviously it can be checked if your account actually has the game. if they have an automatic process for that or anything, no one knows, but it CAN absolutely be checked.

With a cart, I don't know if they have any individual data that is sent to Sony. If not, they obviously can't notice it that way.

Edit: Oh, you were talking about carts, haha. My bad :)

I mentioned this a few posts above and noted that it only immediately seems possible for them to bust you if you're playing a digital game that doesn't have a physical counterpart (A digital-only game that wasn't purchased on your account). Could definitely be proven wrong about that, but I had that thought, myself.

Literarily got a vita yesterday.
Been debating getting one since forever, but finally decided to get it now that Henkaku's a thing (will mainly use it for ps3 remote play though).
I honestly couldn't care if Sony manages to console ban it, what the hell am I going to do online with a vita, but man, they could seriously lose customers over an account ban.
Over the summer I got about 4 new platinums. If I'm locked out of those, I may just give Sony the finger, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The only way sony could know you playing a back up is if you're playing backup of a game game that is download only Example like skullgirlls which can only be bought from Playstation store and you trophy sync. Because no actual cart format exist and the game you obviously did not buy in your playstation store purchase history, that would be one way sony would realize it was unauthorized if somehow you played online or trophy sync. But then someone will have to actually investigate that to know for sure. That i can believe cause it make sense.

The previous statement is also my point. Any game that exist at retail sony has no way to know if i bought it or not. Simply playing it on my system either online or trophy sync means nothing in that situation. I can go get a random game from someone and play it few minutes and give it back to him. Sony won't know that cause by trophy sync, that should not mean is supicious requires banning.

To be honest, if sony is anything like nintendo, there is people playing back up dump installed games on 3DS with no bans announced yet. Even games that is obviously digital only that is not legally owned is being used as well and still not reporting bans. I'm not saying sony is the same as nintendo, but if is anything like it. Then again, the real issue is knowing how sony can detect any non legit activity and how to hide it? 3DS has private headers and such, so would that be a clue?

Again, not saying it is, just ideas. Weather or not any of this is true facts, is just better to know clarity to avoid more confusion and paranoia. Basically my point is avoid online activities with games that are not retail sold and backed up of digital only PSN purchases. Only logical reasons.:teach:

So then who is gonna be the guinea pig and test this possibility?:ninja:

You're going to need a better example than Skullgirls to prove your point, as a physical release for the Vita does exist.

If it does then sorry. I have no knowledge of one existing. Still it doesn't have to be skull girls. ANY GAME THAT HAS NO PHYSICAL RELEASE and was not purchased from PSN and played as a backup that is my point.

When Henkaku released somewhat recently, I do recall a few people suggesting that Sony had access to viewing the contents of your system to an extent (Which I believe they could do through the PS3 in some sort of content log?) If that is the case, they could also more than likely see things such as vitamin, retroarch and molecularshell (etc.) logged there. If anybody has more insight on this, please feel free to share.

That is true, the ps3 has a kind of content/activity log on which the homebrew appears as well. Alongside the ps3 having to spoof firmware for online, there are also plugins like ps ninja/psn patch that clear your activity among other things so you're less likely to be caught, I don't know if the vita also has an activity log keeping track of this but if so, I'm hoping for henkaku to get plugin support to alleviate this issue.

Sony actually bans consoles? Gash, and I thought that nintendo was a asshole with its bans.

(oh boy, you actually drew it? i love it even more! beautiful art dude, you have wonderful drawing skill)
our ps3 was banned, and it never had cfw. (my brother used my mom's credit card (ha ha) on it and she refunded everything)

that's pretty dedicated to type like that lol
If I didn't care about trophies so much I'd install the exploit :P
it might sound a bit zen, but learn to ignore the trophies and just focus on the game :) games are more fun than worrying about some ridiculous, not even fun weird thing you have to do 100 times. some trophies are even bugged for games, i think ninja gaiden sigma for vita, one of the trophies you just can't get because it doesn't support 2 player unlike ps3, and the AI 2nd player isn't good enough lol...
i'm sure there are more cases like that - and wouldn't that annoy people if they try to get all 100% in their games, and some you can't?

but it won't annoy you if you stop caring. i have seen some people not play games because they don't have trophies...

yep sony hate it when you refund (even if someone steals your card etc, they ban you)
i saw one guy actually got them to unban him, it took like some news stuff, newpapers a little tv, complaints... not easy at all.

Your view of trophies is pretty one sided.
For me, trophies don't get in the way of me enjoying the game (Except for when they do get bugged, like you mentioned, DAMN YOU INSOMNIAC GAMES WHERE IS MY RATCHET AND CLANK PLATINUM X_X) but rather give me more enjoyment, more reason to replay the game and keep my eyes open for things I might have overlooked or skipped. It's also a nice sense of accomplishment, and if you've platinumed a game, you know that you've definitely seen all the things the devs wanted to show. Not to mention, more motivation do shit harder. Like Brass Balls in BioShock (play through the entire game without dying). That was a good time.
