BEFORE YOU READ! If you're viewing this thread because you're concerned about your privacy and the safety of your account, I recommend downloading VitaToolbox. Which you can find in the pinned "Listing of All VPKs" thread.

So far I've seen little-to-no info on reported bans that I can really believe. It's obvious that you shouldn't do things like sync your trophies or go online with backups. But occasionally, accidents happen.

I'd like to write a list with some detailed info including:
1. What might've caused the ban. (Homebrew, trophy sync, playing backups, etc.)
2. Region (What Country do you live in?)
3. Console ban and account ban? Or just account ban? (Does Sony console ban vitas?)

And perhaps a few other details if you'd suggest. This OP will be re-written once I gather more information, and I hope to gather more information/reports across other websites and boards.

How do I know if I'm banned?
If you're getting a number of different error codes when trying to access or sign into PSN and you know you did something wrong; Chances are you might've been banned. See the link below for a number of error codes relating to suspension/ban:
codes.https://www.playstation.com/en-nz/g...g/banned-and-suspended-consoles-and-accounts/

(Thanks Vampirex!)

Hopefully this collection of information will be useful in the coming months. It would really help determine how many safety precautions that users will have to take when using this homebrew, and hopefully put those who are already very careful and worried at ease, as well.

And I apologize if there's already a thread like this. I'd like to keep this actively updated, though.

I've heard a few reports I haven't really documented in the last week across /hbg/, reddit, and wololo comments, now. I figured GBAtemp would be a better place to gather info as people are less inclined to create accounts just to make a false ban report. (As you'd expect from anonymous users on other sites)

In that case, this thread will remain here for me to update when they finally do start cracking down.
Personally, I'm using a throwaway account on a PSTV. If I were to get console banned/account banned, I wouldn't have much of a loss. I can more than likely experiment a bit.
Sony's obviously keeping an eye on what's happening, with henkaku being patched around a week after being announced? I'm sure they're eager to do something about this.

I do see your point tho.

if people do start getting banned it would be nice to document why when how they got banned.

You also need solid proof that their banned.
I mean, I say say "I got banned for syncing trophies" and you'd believe me whilst in the mean while, I'm happily playing Minecraft online.

People that have been banned need to provide a screenshot with an errorcode/message telling them their banned.
Otherwise you'll have trolls giving out false claims of being banned.

I'll happily take additional evidence and post it in the OP, listing the ban as cited or confirmed. I'd be glad to post peoples filed claims as uncofirmed without evidence, however. Like I said, I have more trust from this site as opposed to the other sites that are reporting on the vita scene right now.

Nope. Didn't got banned so far. Even played online, synched my throphys and bought a few games online. (Gods Eater 2) a few mins ago.
Also saw a few who claimed, that they got banned, but nobody could proof it.

Yeah, that's more or less why I wanted to make this thread. Personally, on my PSTV, I've synced my trophies a few times (Even with the one trophy I got in a minute of playing that Adventure Time developer kit dump on accident) and bought a handful of games as well. So far so good. I don't have any doubt that they'll start banning for this though. I'm very curious about how much information they can get off of the henkaku user's vita to support a ban.

I'd totally agree with that "New account" bit, though if they console ban you via your CID, like they did with the PS3; you're SOL making a new account. That's why I'd love a confirmation on whether or not they're still doing console bans for the Vita.

(Thanks, by the by. Drew it a few nights ago.)

Dump God Eater :D
(It's the biggest game on Vita 9 GB :P )

Also you can unsync your account from your vita to be safe :/ that goes for everyone
I got banned back when PS3 was jailbroken just by syncing trophies so watch out ^^

Thing about Sony and the PS3 is that they didn't act on people syncing trophies that often iirc, unless they were hacked in. I'd hope that stays true for the Vita.
And regarding handheld gaming.. With the 3ds' gateway, retail cartridge versions of games playing online will definitely get you a ban, whereas using digital copy versions through CFW have yet to get anyone in trouble, really. Nintendo has a bad way of keeping track of who purchases what when it comes to accounts and transactions though. Sony (should, and probably does) have a better grip on this situation.

Nintendo only bans 3ds games that goes online with public headers (aka using .3ds files ln a gateway or sky3ds). If you are using your own header or even better, playing with a .cia file on a cfw you will be safe.

I was thinking that psvita backups where like the cias we use on our 3ds

I figured it was related to the headers. I think they are similar to an extent, but I think Sony might be capable of checking your purchase history for your playstation account for digital purchases (of games that don't have a physical counterpart). It's not like the PS3/PS4 where you can have multiple users and play one account's game on another account and collect trophies.
(Thank you for the compliment up there by the way. <3)
