Hi,

Just got a ps vita on 3.6 with henkaku installed. Apologies for being such a noob but where do I put films that have been ripped on the memory card?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Try QCMA, it will not prompt an update message and will let you copy music, films and other stuff. It also makes backups of everything

You dont really need any folders, just connect the system via cable to your PC and copy content through Content Manager (a black themed application) that can be found on the PS Vita system. The QCMA application is developed by codestation and can be found at the bottom of the page, specifically, Windows section. Just scroll down, download, install and your good to go. Henkaku is a homebrew ( i.e. self made progrmas, games, emulators) enabler and you dont really need it to copy movies.

Actually, I have often copied movies to my own Vita system in the past. You need to set up and configure a videos folder on your PC (default folder is your "videos" folder) and you can immediately transfer your content straight from the Videos app on the Vita.

I don't have the cable to connect to my pc -is it not possible just to transfer the film via ftp and henkaku?
You don't have to have a cable to transfer via QCMA; you also have the option to transfer via wifi. Use Vita Update Blocker as well as QCMA to be able to bypass the update nag.

Alternatively, if I recall rightly, there is a videos folder on your memory card (ux0:videos?) so you may be able to place your content there through VitaShell.

To be honest, I havent tried this, although I think you can pair your Vita with QCMA via WiFi, essentially this would enable you to transfer content. Henkaku is more of a homebrew installer, although in theory it is possible to copy movies via henkaku and ftp, though I do not know where to and what is needed.

Thanks for the advice guys, I might try putting the video in ux0:videos as suggested. As you can probably tell I'm pretty hopeless at this stuff - is there any chance that transferring the film this way could mess up my vita?

cheers!

The video app looks for encrypted video files, so you will need to use QCMA to move the files to the Vita. Hopefully soon someone will port VLC or some other media player to Vita and we can just straight FTP files over to ux0: /

Incidentally, I sure hope you don't plan on moving playlists from PC to Vita via QCMA, it currently(likely never will as development seems dead) cannot see playlists. This was really good functionality.
