It isn't actually illegal yet, it just links to a site that won't give entry unless you can decrypt it.
Though if he really has decrypted the update, this may prove he didn't just get a DRM free dev dump maybe?

I'm not sure why it's causing so much controversy. If decryption has really been achieved, then we'll start to see a steady stream of other, more mainstream games appearing soon. If more games don't appear, then it was probably unencrypted to begin with.

This is one of those questions that will be answered simply by waiting and seeing.

It would be more interesting to have confirmation that the update was actually decrypted, as that would increase the likeliness of the game dump not being a devkit leak.
I guess it might be on that chinese forum, but I can't be bothered to go look for it.
Without confirmation that the update got decrypted, that decryption key link looks fake as fuck to me, you can hide anything in a locked file and pretend it's gold.
As sj33 said, just wait and see, but as it stands I'm still leaning towards this being fake.

, extract the contents of the zip into ux0:app/PCSG00608. It might show up on the game as version 1.00, but it actually is 1.04. You can change the version in param.sfo to 1.04.

it's atleast an update.

use decrypt key

Interesting, but don't post that link here, a game update can be considered as warez.

At best, you can hint towards where you found that.

Edit: didn't see that it was the same link, link in OP needs to get removed too.

Lmao game update = warez. thats horse shit and u know it.

It is copyrighted though. Can you link to source?
The fact that the PARAM.sfo wasn't updated to 1.04 makes me think this may also be a leak. If he had got the update from PSN and decrypted it, wouldn't it show 1.04 to begin with?

I've tested it,shows 1.0 but actually 1.04 comparing to my friend's updated offical version. So the leaker is true about decrypted the game and the patch him/herself.
Just hope he/she will release the method soon.

If he had access to the dev build of the normal game, it's not much of a stretch to imagine he had access to the decrypted updates too. This release by itself doesn't really mean anything imo.

Well, in Major Tom's pastebin (the one that explains how to decrypt games), he says he actually can decrypt game updates, even if he doesn't explain how to do so, so I don't think there's anything "new" here, nor that it adds credit to the rumor that someone knows how to decrypt EBOOTs.

"Decrypting the ux0: patch/[TITLEID] is really a PAIN IN THE ASS, so I won't explain how to do it here. I managed to do it, if no one figures it out, I'll eventually explain it later."

yeah but the same problem with games, we still need the eboot decrypted.
the only new thing is that it is something new piracy wise, and hopefully not dev leaks etc.

No. The theory is the guy knows a Chinese developer that's localizing to Chinese. If that's the case, he would have access to decrypted update file as well. What would provide it beyond doubt is a different game from a different developer.

He knows that and he knows we know that. This is shenanigans rather than a decrypted retail EBOOT.
