I can't seem to find anything online that doesn't require a flashcart/other hardware, and the search bar for gbatemp doesn't filter out words like "cards" (or anything else that contains the letters "ds") so it's hard to find what I'm looking for. Is there a homebrew app (similar to braindump) that would dump a DS cartridge?

Use latest version of decrypt9. I doubt there is homebrew but there is TOOLS. if you have CFW or a9lh

There's an app that released within the last month but its name escapes me. Apparently Decrypt9 added the functionality recently too, but I've not tested it myself.

This seems to dump DS/DSi carts too https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-gamecard-dumper.438154/ Requires A9LH.
It's based on decrypt9 code, so it seems to be a stripped down decrypt9.

This one is a CIA, the only flaw is that you must exit the homebrew everytime you swap the game you want to dump.

And while we're talking about homebrews to dump DS cartridges, I'll throw this too https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-twlsavetool-v1-0.412887/
It dumps and inject DS saves.

I'm guessing this needs cfw? I haven't installed cfw on my n3ds yet but the ds in the video doesn't seem to be running on normal firmware
Well, AFAIK all those solutions to dump DS cartridges and saves either require A9LH or in case of Wooddumper and TWLSaveTool they require that you're on CFW. I personally don't know a DS dumper that works in 3dsx form.

yes you need a way to install a cia... so cfw is needed...

i first thought about the save tool but since it didn't dump i dind't shared the link...
thanks for doing it btw..

IIRC
wooddumper had the hability of dump DSI stuff intact...
other tools like ds backup tool for couldn't read the extra dsi stuff and either filled it with dummy or blank data...
however i don't know how the tools for the 3ds deal with the dsi data
