Regarding a more eye-candy like GUI, well, honestly, we could already have XMB or GLUI/MaterialUI on Vita were it not for the lack of a GL driver. Since none seem to be in development, I guess we could try making a libgxm menu driver implementation.

About mugen, nice idea, but the official mugen is not opensource. There might be some mugen clones though which are.

About other cores:

I've been working together with @skogaby on mupen64plus but this will take some time I guess before you see anything running, again the lack of a GL driver is the problem there.

Picodrive, gPSP, PCSX ReARMed - we still need to figure out how to get the dynarecs to run there. More help there would be great.

I take it autoconfig is not an option on the Vita. I see it there, but I get "can't save" errors when I try to use it.

A interface like wiiflow with pictures will be possible someday?
What cores are possible but not yet started for vita?
Basically no - the interface is designed to be as resource-light as possible to ensure portability with the lowest common denominator format.

'Higher end' formats such as the PC and Mac have an XMB-style interface, however.

There's IKEMEN, an open source Mugen clone well known in the Mugen community.

Judging from the Youtube videos it looks very nice, thanks for posting the link to that.

Liberetro desmume need dynarec also?

Yeah it does. I also have frangarcj helping me with the Vita port. We were looking into this earlier, we believe it might be a heap size issue.

Beyond AWESOME to have you here again @LibretroRetroArc

Thanks for your hard work over the years with Retroarch. I have played many, MANY hours with it on different plataforms. And now we have it on Vita so its all good.

Quick and concrete question: Will Vita be able to run Mame with the Mortal Kombat Arcade games on it at goof framerate and sound?

Agan, thanks a lot for all your work!!!

A big speedup to today's VBA Next nightly core thanks to the threaded rendering patches that NunaticAlumina has been pushing. Many games are catching up with gPSP's performance now. In some games, it's faster than gpSP right now with some games (like Sonic Advance 2, Kuru Kuru Kururin, etc.), other games might still be slower than gpSP though.

In terms of compatibility, VBA Next has gpSP beat, so it might be worthwhile to test both for each game and see which one works best.

So how do those compare to the "standalone" VBA that exists? That seems to run at mostly fullspeed most of the time.

does anybody know if shaders will be implemented? I'm used to using shaders on pc and ps3 so it'd be neat to use them on the vita.

...Well this is a surprise, to say the least. But it's nice to have official support assisting with the thread.

Really, @LibretroRetroArc , your team is doing a wonderful job and I couldn't be more happy to help with the project as I am now (Even if it isn't officially sanctioned). As far as I'm concerned (And I'm 98% sure the other active users here will agree as well), you probably are one of the best homebrew projects so far for the Vita.

Sure, this isn't saying much at the moment, but I believe this statement will stand for time to come.

Seriously, please don't kill me I actually really like your stuff now, HONEST.

If recalling correctly, on 3DS this basically tanked the framerate, so... Not for a time. Especially with software rendering being the only option currently.

Why does everyone want NetPlay or other Internet Connection Features????? You will risk getting Update Nags from hell. Eventually Sony will figure out how to get past the Update Blockers and your System will be compromised. Just accept RetroArch and the other Homebrew as they are and enjoy.
Great work by the way. Just waiting for 3.51 Compatibility so I wont lose ARK and the PSP Emulators I have along with PSP Games.
