First off, i'm not very knowledgeable in the whole homebrew scene for 3ds. i homebrew'ed once using browserhax and then updated and recently homebrew'ed again on firmware 11.0.0-33U (my firmware now) using browserhax as well. i have a N3DS

So as the title states, every time i reboot my n3ds, the icons that i moved don't stay in place from where i last put them, and the icons that i downloaded from the eshop are always wrapped.

i've searched google and a bunch of other threads but the solution is always to separate sysnand and emunand. if i'm not mistaken, that's for people who have cfw's?

anyway, any help would be appreciated. i know it's not a big deal and i could live with it, but it's interesting since i can't seem to find any info regarding my specific situation.

EDIT: i've also tried the method of separating the sysnand and emunand and it didn't work

1. Do you have Arm9LoaderHax?
2. Do you have Menuhax?
3. Do you have EmuNAND?

Menuhax keeps the Home Menu from saving, so you can't save any changes to the home menu (for example icon unwrapping). Either uninstall it or live with this fact.

The fw 11.0 menuhax locks the menu's data so it can't be edited, which causes these symptoms as a side effect. I'd recommend finding a system you can use to do fieldrunners downgrade, or paying someone to install a hardmod, to get your system installed with A9LH in any manner you can manage instead.

Did you hit the 300 install limit by any chance? That happened to me when I did. But it would be menuhax 3.0 so uninstall it and install 2.7

so i figured out my problem, how to replicate it, and how to temporarily fix it. menuhax resets when i change the theme OR holding the power button till it shows the screen to confirm power off BUT pressing the home button during that time

since you said that menuhax locks in your icons, i unwrapped and re arranged my icons to where i want them to
turned off my DS and opened up homebrew
uninstalled menuhax and rebooted to home menu to check if my icons were still in place; they were
re installed menuhax

i guess this is a temporary fix and that as soon as they patch out browserhax, you can't do this anymore

I had this problem before, and I was able to find out menuhax 3.0 was the cause.

But, is this a bug, or is this intentional? And if yes, why?

It's a limitation of menuhax post firm 10.5 (official name: sdiconhax). It can't currently be avoided.

It's best to use browserhax to install a better secondary entrypoint (if possible).

It's entirely intentional, otherwise you'd lose menuhax as soon as something made a change to the menu data since it would cleanup/overwrite the menuhax 3 exploit code.

EDIT: It's like old menuhax where changing the theme would overwrite the exploit with the new theme. Except this time around the exploit takes advantage of something that isn't as easily avoided.
