Hacking Is there any possibility of getting a PS4 RemotePlay client for vWii or Wii u?

Pretty simple question I hope. There have been modded and homebrewed versions of PS4 remoteplay discussed on XDA. Essentially it is just streaming from the PS4, so there isn't really a lot of heavy lifting that would be placed on the Wii/Wii U.

With this in mind, how feasible would it be to implement a remoteplay client for wii or wii u?

Could probably be done with CFW, but I doubt the results would be very spectacular, the Wii U's network chip is the worst.

Well, the Vita can do it, so why not the Wii U?

The Vita's network card is likely superior to that of the Wii U, but I could be wrong. I don;t have a lot of time to do a lot of research into the specs of the Vita, but I think that both the Vita and PS4 have superior Wi-Fi chips that can actually handle RemotePlay.

It takes the Wii U ~9 hours to dump Smash Bros. (16GB) over the network, something I could do from my PC to my Mac in ~10-20 minutes.

If you're wondering about the GamePad, the GamePad data is transferred between the pad and console using a local Wi-Fi network, that is actually more powerful than the Wii U's standard network chip. Why Nintendo made this descision, I have no idea. But all i can say is that I doubt we will see RemotePlay on the Wii U without a hardware mod.

That's the first time I've ever heard anyone call the PS4 wifi chip superior to anything. General consensus is that PS4 has garbage wifi. Is there really anything wrong with the wifi in the Wii U?

I was just assuming. I don't actually have a PS4, not do I have the time to do the research.
If you really think the PS4's Wi-Fi is garbage, then performing this on the Wii U might be moreso possible than I thought.

The video appears to be compressed, so the Wii may struggle in terms of cpu power. It can only display up to 640x480 anyway, so it's not the ideal choice.

I doubt the WiiU would have any problems, if someone bothered to do it.

Maybe. Just remember that we need to send image, audio and input data to and from the console 60 times a second (probably more for the audio), and that data needs to be sent through a reliable connection, and encoded/decoded upon arrival. Most of that is handled by the GamePad's Wi-Fi connection, but sending that data over the internet introduces even more latency. The ethernet adapter may improve things a little, but then it comes down to router speed.

Just remember that this is my opinion, the Wii U may actually be capable of this, I just don't think it is.

While we're on the subject of controlling stuff remotely, I still don't understand why there isn't a basic VNC client for Wii U yet. It's such an obvious platform for it - the Gamepad could be used solely for mouse and keyboard support on the touchscreen, with the VNC'd machine on the HDMI output.

Remote Play would be great, PS4 games with a GameCube pad, nice.
