Yifan Lu Announces HENKaku - A New Native Vita Homebrew Enabler for 3.60.

Earlier today, Yifan Lu, a well-known member of the Vita hacking scene famous for the Rejuvenate hack for the Dev Assistants, has announced that a new (native!) Vita homebrew enabler for the latest firmware version, as of writing (3.60), will be arriving tomorrow at "9:00AM UTC".

The new hack, known as "HENKaku", will require the following:
  • A Vita/PSTV running 3.60
  • A memcard with at least 10MB of free space (internal memory is currently not supported!)
  • An FTP client
  • An internet connection**
**Offline support is now available! Launch the exploit straight from the email app without the need for internet access at all! See the unofficial release thread for more details. (Internet connection still required for installation)

This is a small paragraph of Yifan Lu himself explaining what the properties of this new homebrew enabler does:

HENkaku simply lets you install homebrew as bubbles in LiveArea. It is a native hack that disables the filesystem sandbox. It installs molecularShell, a fork of VitaShell that lets you access the memory card over FTP and install homebrew packages (which we create as VPK files). With vita-toolchain, developers have access to the same system features licensed developers have access to as well as undocumented features that licensed developers cannot use (including overclocking the processors).

The hack has been released at http://henkaku.me ~ Furthermore, the hack is said to be exclusive to 3.60, and there is to be no backports for the time being.

so there is not much new homebrew...
Are you kidding me? There's a whole sticky thread dedicated to the latest homebrew apps and games. There is still plenty to be doing where HENkaku and homebrew are concerned. :)

I suggest you bookmark a few places. Wololo.net is constantly dishing out the latest big homebrew and news for the Vita. And the aforementioned sticky thread is also getting a reasonable amount of worthwhile apps almost every single day as well.

You may also be interested in creating your own homebrew apps, even if it is a very simple (but still fun) app!

i would be VERY careful before installing the 3.61 update to try this!
Let it be confirmed by wololo or GBATemp first! (BETTER by yifan Lu ;))

Uh. No. Thats a very obvious fake. There are so many ways to disprove this I don't want to bother because I'm on my phone.

We are not going to see HENkaku on 3.61 for the very obvious reason of: it's patched. And even if it wasn't, you would need to start looking for the offsets and addresses in 3.61 for HENkaku.

I know it's a very bold claim I'm going to make, but in my opinion, I don't see HENkaku on 3.61 happening now until at least another year's time looking at the time period between the other exploits...

Hello everyone,
Thought I might revive this thread with a little bit of news... from me!

I managed to shift the ★Mini Settings for QA app into the vs0: partition, and with a little app.db magic, got the app to successfully boot! (see below:)

IMG_0150.JPG

However, even when I copy debug_settings_plugin.rco from the actual Settings app to the ★Mini Settings app, clicking on ★Debug Settings just throws a fatal error, prompting to restart the Vita...

I believe we are one step closer to cracking this!

(and if you want to know more about the Mini Settings app, see wololo's article all about it: http://wololo.net/2016/08/04/mini-settings-qa-bubble/)
