i think it's the other way around...
i mean yes, you can sell loads of copies of sun and moon for some time..
but how about pokemon go micro currency? they will release the other generations on pokemon go from time to time.. sun and moon will be irrelevant in 1 year or so... as for pokemon go they can milk it for a long time

i feel moon and sun will be just one more game to keep "pidgeons comming"
so you keep the series running.. and as an excuse to keep "pokemon" relevant

I don't think pokemon go will last. Niantic is known for bad community support.

and so far the app is so broken...
it doesn't feel polished at all and is lacking loads of stuff
seems like they grabbed google maps, "replace textures" a generator puts the pokemons on the areas and shove a mini game where you throw a pokeball to catch a monster
they created more content and more stuff for the first game boy games than this thing

That's exactly how I feel about this game, and imo it really shows the sad state of the mobile gaming industry. Bad, unpolished games that people download only because it's something popular. And developers whose sole objective is to make money by milking franchises with minimal effort.

A supposedly blooming industry that should have killed the consoles is now dying on its own weight. Well the entire industry is dead.
Seriously Nintendo should know how much more the West appreciate than in Japan.

every time i try a new game from the app store, i can't stop feeling "well, this is a game that i could play on my old nes" and i loose interest..
they either feel just like a huge mini game or it is so simple i don't actually call it a game...
come on, i remember ps2 and other consoles of that era have games full of content... some of them even open world, for example gta... now we have enough power to emulate theese systems on our phones, yet "native games" have such basic mechanics and low content...
we even got gta san andreas ported. a huge game.. yet here i see on the store "tetris" "match 4" millions of web browser games that are just a calculator and a clock and pictures... (i am talking about thoose games where you can build your town and wait hours and days for the stuff to complete)

I think it's a great promotional game, for the sole fact that it's so popular, now people of every age are interested in Pokemon again. A lot of the people who were fans of Red/Blue that moved on when they grew up are suddenly remembering how much fun they had with Pokemon, so they're willing to buy Sun/Moon. I don't think it was intentional from Nintendo, but it sure worked out well for them.
